Anyone got any ideas why this is happening?

Recently P5 on my laptop just won't start. It just freezes at initialising pattern browser.

My guess, and this is just a wild one. I have a large MIDI library on the drive, 500,000 or so MIDI files, and the explore patterns window is open!?!?!?

This is on a Vista 32 OS.

I tried deleting the P5.ini file but still no joy.

Try moving some of the MIDI patterns out to a differernt location not automatically used by Project5. I'm wondering if that number of files is bogging down the browser from opening properly.

The MIDI library is not in a P5 path (as such) it's in the root of the C drive.

Right clciking and properties gives some whacky numbers, something like

    300MB of actual filesizes
    3.6GB of space
    900,000 files
    3,000 directories
