Anyone happy with Korg M1 Legacy software?

I used to own an M1.  I liked some of the sounds on it and want to know if anybody uses this software and if it is worth it.
I don't know where to purchase it either.  Just saw some old online stuff about it.

Thanks.

If you liked the hardware M-1 you should love the M-1 in software. It comes with all the cards. Admittedly some of the sounds are not useful and many of them sound similar, but you have hundreds to choose from, they are quality and they can all be tweaked. You can also set it up as a multi.

You should be able to get it from the Korg Website or maybe at a discount from a vendor. I am not aware of any recent sales but there may be.

I wish more companies that made famous keyboards would do this.I use mine a lot.

    A big +1 for the M1 here!!
I think it's totally worth it and the sounds are very useful/highly recommend it. About once year, Korg does have a sale and I got it at the link below, a few years back......but, you might try the net (or ask Larry ) for the best deal.

Rimshot, I just saw the entire Legacy collection going for $99 at KVR, from a private seller. I don't know anything about his reputation at KVR, but he seems to be a regular there and also, there's a feedback thread that people post about after sales etc.....

    Here's the link: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=402215

    Ps.
Over the years, I've personally bought a lot of software (via paypal) from KVR and every transaction has been a positive experiences (including my recent purchase of Synthmaster), but you should still do a bit of research on the seller before jumping in.
    Good luck!!

It used to be cheaper if you get the collection by buying the Korg microkeys 61, than purchasing the collection itself when it's not on offers. The recent offer is the exception, not sure if it's ended. If it's ended, get the microkeys :) , but only the 61 keys version is packaged with the full collection, I think.

I've collected some hardware synths (D70, Yamaha SY, Alesis QS..) but missed the whole Korg series, so it's good to have it. Just that I've not gone deep into the sound yet, as I seem to use the AAS collection for most of my projects. On a recent project, I was looking for an organ sound in a hurry and remembered there are some in the M1 soundset.. pull it out, but it's not suitable. Ended up choosing one from Dim Pro, DSF libraries.

If you're used to the Korg hardware, I suppose it's immediately more useful.

Absolutely +1 from me - have the legacy collection and M1 - had them many years - they are still some of the best emulations around - and I have a REAL M1 and Wavestation and believe me its hard to tell the difference!

In fact Korg made some slight improvements apparently with the M1 software because they could. Whereas you cannot update the hardwre M1 in any way. I have had both the hardware and software for Wavestation and it is near impossible to tell the difference. They really nailed that one!

I bought the Korg Legacy WS, then picked up the M1.
Both are pretty darn good, but if I had to choose between them, I'd think I'd go with the WS.

I like the Legacy collection because it plays on most of my DAW hosts.   Unfortunately no AAX version.

When I was a kid I used to spend hours drooling over the Wavestaion at the guitar center on Sunset Blvd.  I never thought I'd be able to afford it.  now I have it with all Roms rams and cards for $49...and it's 64 bit.  It still sounds awesome.  So much fun to play!

great sounds, cheap price 64bit now and 32bit, stable.  tons of free sounds out on the web.

get them, which ever of the legacy plugins you want, you wont be disappointed.

I own M1, Wavestation and the effects.  love them all.  Im bnot into analog plugins much but have heard so much good stuff I might have to eventually pick up the rest.

can't go wrong, really good buy even at the individual price, bundle is better.

Interested in this as well.  One review said that the addon cards were included; another said that some of the cards are "empty".  Does the MI legacy have all the extra cards?

My M1 Legacy came with cards 1 through 21, a KLC card, cards TI 1 through 11 as well as 4 user (RAM) cards. All cards but the user cards came loaded with sounds. The user cards are for your creations.

I'm sure even if you don't get them with purchase, I seem to remember there are loads and loads of free downloads on the Korg site - it's been quite a while since I last looked, but I'm sure there was a lot of it available.
Forgot to mention, when I purchased mine it came with the "mini" MS 20 midi controller - almost (but not quite) like playing the real thing!!

Thanks.  I think I will put this on my "to buy" list.  I owned many synths, but only one was a korg.  It is long gone.  So it would be nice to have classic Korg tones by getting the M1 legacy vst.  Almost a no-brainer even without a sale.

The M1 VST comes with the factory produced sounds from all released cards.  I didn't have any empty ones.

Check or hunt the Korg forum for the additional M1 zip file of sounds that's out there.  I got it last year sometime.

The zip file had TONS of sound banks that used to be for purchase but the companies went out of business or no longer sells the sounds - this is copyrighted sounds which if I remember right the collector got permission from all the vendors to include in the bundle zip file.  TOTALLY worth the hunt as there are latterly hundreds of sounds that are useful.

for $50 I was so stoked to get so many sounds for a great plugin.

    Thanks!!

When I get home I will look at the file name I have and see if I can locate a active web page with the file.

if not I can send you the file, the author that combined all the sysex banks stated that they were freely distributable as long as the whole zip file was sent and not repackaged etc.

I remember trying to look for that M1 zip file about a year ago, and couldn't find it. If anyone does find a link to these additional sounds, please do post it here.

    Thanks!!

I just checked and it looks like those files has been taken down, Korg Legacy Collecton – page #3 – the ultimate collection of M1……….., error 404 – because they contained copyrighted material.

The reason people say the vinyl sounds better is because the music was better.

Guys I used to own the M1 (hardware) myself. I don't have the plug but I have Wavestation VST which I LOVE!!!I will probably get the M1 later.

However I did manage to track a whole bunch of M1 sounds. I am not sure though if it is the zip file you guys are talking about but there are stacks of banks in there.

You are welcome to it. What I have done is use my HighTail account and create a public link as I have done here. Not sure how long it will be up there maybe 5 or 7 days or so.

https://www.hightail.com/download/elNLWmd1d0ExUUNHR3NUQw These are sysex files so you will need a little program like MIDI OX to send them to your (hardware) M1 or use a sequencer etc. The VST will open the files directly. Hope they are useful.

Jeff, the legacy M1 can directly import sysex data. Just click on the type of sysex you want to import (program, combi or multi) and the browser then click on the user card you want to use. Click on the file box, that is the small one under program mode, and import. Find the sysex you want to import and click ok. You can have all four user cards loaded at once.

    I hope this helps.
