Anyone have IK ARC 64-bit working under Win 7 64-bit?

Hi All,

I downloaded the 64-bit version of ARC from IK Multimedia as I'd like to stop using the 32-bit VST plugin within Sonar X1C.  Unfortunately, when I add the 64-bit VST onto any project it causes Sonar to crash everytime.

I submitted a support ticket with IK about a month and half ago and they say "we know of issues with Sonar 64-bit and are working on a solution", but when I ask for progress on the ticket I get silence.

Anyone having any luck with it and Win7 64-bit?

Thanks,
Tom

really?  I haven't had any problems at all.

I guess I had better verify that I actually am using the 64bit version and not the 32bit version thru bitbridge before declaring it works well, because I have it loaded on my template and never have to "insert" it directly myself.  but I've never had a problem with it crashing X1 and version (and I am currently running "c").

I'll try to remember tonight to verify which version I'm using.

I have had no problems either.....does bitbridge run invisible? If it does then maybe my system defaulted to 32 bit. I am not using a template in Sonar . I load an instance of it into each and every project and I have a few different sound map instances in my ARC library.

If the ARC is defaulting to 32 bit unawares I don't see how that would make a huge difference in its functionality or performance. You have more headroom with 64 bit but in this case the system takes into account multiple mike measurements and sums them all together through an algorhythm designed to interpret the positioned takes in relation to where they are in the room and decide based on a flat freq. resonse what corrections need to be in order to  make the EQ in your space as flat as it can be.
In my case the system performed well and notched my EQ within a close approximation of flat. EQ .

In the places where the system could not make an exact correction the freq. chart shows where the changes need to be further made to make things perfectly flat. My only complaint there is the lack of a detailed spectral readout on ARC. What I see are slight bumps in general areas but the chart is scaled in such large increments that I need to further look at the spectrum. It does get pretty darned close though.

So I know I'm long winded here ....its working for me however 'might' be working in 32 bit. If it is working in 32 bit, I don't see that as a serious threat to its funtionality based on how it works.

Never had anything lock up on me at all.

We have a lot of users that are running ARC with Sonar just fine but we are working on an update but no ETA decided on it as of yet.

yes, apparently I"m running 32bit versino and didn't realize it until Tom's quesiton. I don't even see the option of how to install the 64bit version, tho.  Tom , you said you downloaded the 64bit version, but where did you find that?

in my downloads, I can go to PREVIOUS versions and I see the 1.3 version says it has 64bit support, but the last version I installed was 1.3.1, so shouldn't it have allowed me to install the 64bit version as well?

Just a quick question to the OP, do you have AmpliTube Free or SampleTank FREE installed?

    Beagle,
We covered the x64 install in this thread in Techniques.
Check to see where the x64 dll got put.

You know Tom... IMO, you should do all us guitarists a favor and include your link in your signature: http://deeringamps.com/

I have not had the pleasure of playing through one of your amps but I think I read about them over on the guitardiner several years ago and was impressed then, as now. I hope it is OK that I included your link. Your site is really interesting.

I just installed the 64bit version Sonar 8.5.3 & placed the .dll file into the Calwalk/VSTplugins folder as suggested by others.

After doing such, I get this message:

    Any suggestions?

    To the op:

    Allow me validate.

I've had repeated trouble with IK tech support on using ARC 64bit version in 64bit S8.5.3.  IK ignores my tickets.  IK Obi won't give a direct answer.

I'm stuck with the 32bit (non 1.3.1) version for the same reason.

Its annoying to me that IK Obi and IK multi seem to hand-wave this issue, again and again.

That said, 32-bit ARC doesn't drain CPU resources in my 64bit bit-bridged Sonar.  The program is most excellent; while IK tech support seems non-existent, IMHO.

Please let us know if you do somehow get the 64bit version working.

That is so true.  I asked for progress on my issue back on Aug. 24th and have yet to hear anything from them.

I was having the exact same issue with Studio One v2 demo as well this week, so it ain't specific to Sonar.  One thing I did do (and haven't verified in Sonar as I'm checking out S1 at the moment) was to use jBridge and that appears to allow me to use the 64-bit ARC software in 64-bit S1.

Seems a bit insane that we have to use other software to get their software to work.

    @Beagle  I'm running 1.3 and I only installed the 64bit version.

@OP. I'm running 64 bit just fine with one exception, see my response to IK Obi.

@IK Obi - I run OK but I've authed twice now and I still get a prompt that says my demo period is over. Yet, when I get that prompt I click CANCEL and the plug runs fine. What's up with that new auth program? Seems flaky.

    Thanks for the info Bapu.

I had the same issue I'm experiencing with 1.3.1 in 1.3.  Mainly because the 1.3.1 patch was supposed to "fix" my problem (from the one attempt IK tried to address my issue), but it never did.

It is odd that when I did jBridge I was able to get it to work (it shows up as "ARC 64" in the VST plug-in list) in S1 64-bit now.

I really like IK and the stuff they do, just not sure they got the installation stuff figured out which is a bit disappointing.
