Anyone here using SampleLogic Fanfare??
Just picked up Rumble and Fanfare during MFs no brainer sale. Rumble's doing fine but some of Fanfare's traditional multis are causing tons of static and glitches. Worse...it may have screwed with my MOTU interface. I was able to download newest drivers and get everything reset and back to normal but want to see if anyone here has had similar experiences. My Studiocat box has 12gigs of memory and is a multicore monster. Even multiple instances of the mighty Omnisphere can't phase it. But Fanfare (which is one incredible library) is puttin the hurt on me.

I have a similar Studiocat i930, 12 GB, RME. No probs here, check free space on your samples hd? Does it happen in stand alone, using others daws?

Any specific multis? I can check them here using an older 920 based machine. The traditional chord instruments work fine here.

I'm going to try again this morning and see if the same thing happens and if it does I'll try to narrow it down. Will also try reloading the (buttload of)samples. Don't know how it could've screwed with my MOTU audio express so it could've been something wrong with that. I've got it (the MOTU) back to normal operation so I'll see if I can screw it up again;-)

Yup...still doing it today. Did notice that it was driving core number 1 into the red instead of spreading it out over all the cores. Isn't there some way to correct this? In any case I'm reinstalling all the samples from disk and we'll see what that does.

I got Fanfare recently, too. I've played around with it a bit and I don't remember any serious issues like you're describing. However I do recall getting some clipping or static once or twice when playing lots and lots of notes on a multi. I don't think it was clipping, because the meter was still in the green. It was an isolated incident, though, so I haven't bothered to try to reproduce it.

Yup...it must be some of the effects and sustain in some multis. That's what I'm getting. If I play a short run of sixteenth notes I can see the CPU overloading. I guess they're made for Johnny one notes.

Just a thought, are you running this in Kontakt stand alone when you have the single core overloading issue? If so do you have the stand alone Kontakt set to use multicore? Things you've probably already checked but I figured it was worth throwing out there just in case. I will check some different multis tomorrow with the sustain pedal to see if I can duplicate the issues.

Nope...running it as a VST in X3. I've emailed SampleLogic...I'll wait to hear their take:-)

Would be curious to hear what they have to say. For grins, I just loaded stand alone K5, pulled up Traditional multi Full Ens Sustain Orchestrated.nkm and played a few notes. Everything sounded fine Until I played too many notes in too short of time frame and then it was breaking up like an mf'er. (see what I did there...) K5 showed that each single key press plays 12 notes so just playing a chromatic scale things would start breaking up after about 1 octave. The K5 CPU meter was pegged and windows 7 also showed core 1 was pegged even though it was hitting 3 other cores pretty hard. In K5 options I changed the CPU overload protection from none? to medium strength and that helped by killing old notes sooner but if you play faster it breaks up again. Haven't try the 'Strict' setting yet. (on my to do too list today) Fanfare sounds great but the CPU hit really limits the usage of some of the library. Checked the spec's page and they have a core2duo listed... Sorry I wasn't of more help but at least I am now able to confirm your initial issues as valid here also.

I went to the Sample Logic site and snooped around a little. I did find this: http://www.samplelogic.com/downloads-manuals About 1/2 down the page is a heading FANFARE Downloads, with the following note: Please Note: If you own the boxed version of FANFARE, or have downloaded your FANFARE purchase before February 1st, 2012, we highly recommend updating to version 1.2, which fixes many minor issues and further enhances the instruments and Multis. In addition, the CPU load is also improved. You can download the update here. There is a V1.2 zip file there which I brought down and unzipped to check the contents. The files are about a week newer than the files I copied off of my install disks so I am going to try and replace them to see just how much load it takes off the CPU. Not getting my hopes too high but stranger things have happened... If I make any progress I will post back later today.

I just tested this out on Multi > Traditional > Full Ens Sustain Orchestrated. The old multi crackled a lot, but with the new multi, the crackling is gone. Thanks! EDIT: Forgot to mention that, with the old multi, my Kontakt CPU meter was at 100%, but with the new multi it stays below about 20%.

welp... I downloaded and replaced the boxed folders with the v1.2 folders. No love. Still crackle, glitch, CPU overload, hang. Dern.

Sorry to hear the bad news, was hoping that was the missing piece to the puzzle. If there is anything specific you would like for me to try here let me know and I can at least let you know what I see here. It looks like we are running similar systems with exception of the audio interface and the Sonar version, although, I did not try the VST in Sonar just used the stand alone K5.
