Anyone know about NT Password?
I forgot the login password of my working computer (Dell Desktop with Windows 10). So I googled and downloaded this software. Then I created a new bootable USB drive with it, but can't boot it from my computer. It is a black screen. Any good alternative to it?

The Dell forum and most computer support forums will not give out info to reset/bypass password. Potential to be someone who has a stolen computer. May also be legitimate owner but with the possibility, the policy is to err on the side of caution. Dell will not even give out the BIOS password on a laptop unless they confirm it is the registered with Dell owner.

I would assume that anyone in the business of buying stolen computers already knows that if he has the device in his control, the Windows account password protection is useless. Anyone new to the business should be able to craft a clever Google search and find that information in any of several dozen legitimate websites. If he knows a minimum amount of identifying information about the legitimate owner, he can probably recover the password from his Microsoft account using the forgotten password interaction. Unless the owner has take care to prevent it, Microsoft has additionally stored a copy of the only real password of value in Windows i. e. the bitlocker password for a fully encrypted hard drive in his Microsoft account available to anyone who can scam his way into that account, or serve them with a warrant. If this is someone's wife trying to find his porn collection, your point is well taken, but why should she look on this forum of all places for this kind of advice. I think it is more likely that the "this program" mentioned in the post along with the limited number of posts indicates that it was intended a phishing attempt or click bait to a link that he was not able to post.

If things go REALLY South for you, you can physically remove the hard drive(s) and hook them into a different computer to read the drives as data drives - which then allows you to save the CONTENTS of those drives to some other drive(s) which then would allow you to reinstall Windows and programs and such. Whatever data you backed up off the drive(s) from the machine you can't log on to would be safe, and could be loaded back on to the computer after Windows finishes getting installed. Just a thought - that would only allow you to preserve CONTENT, and not installed programs, so you would also have to install your applications again, but at least you would have a means to back up and preserve your data. There are many free and paid windows password reset tool which can help reset windows login password like ntpassword, ophcrack and iseepassword. What you need is a USB or DVD disk for creating a reset disk. hope it helps.

Your Dell computer might have UEFI firmware, but NT Password only works with BIOS. While turning on your computer, press F12 (or F2) key to access UEFI. Follow to enable Legacy CSM boot, and turn off Secure Boot. Hopefully NT Password will boot then.

Just come across a trick of using Windows installation media to reset win10 password: If your computer came with Windows 10 32-bit preinstalled, you'd better use Windows 10 32-bit setup DVD, otherwise use 64-bit setup DVD. Hope this will work. A update is appreciated if you've fixed your problem.

With some versions of Windows home, there was a built in administrator account with the password administrator. It made things easier for computer techs. It was a nod to the fact that if you had the hard drive you could take over the machine anyway. Do ctrl+alt+ delete at normal login screen to access the other login screen to try it.
