Anyone know of an adapter for a CBmic 4pin that will conect to a xlr ?

Hi all

I am trying to find a way to take an old style CB mic like this http://www.thunderpole.co.uk/k-po_dmc110.htm

and turn it in to a talk back mic

I will need to find a adapter to make it in to a jack input or Xlr input

I hope someone can offer some help or advice

Thanks to all

just rewire it. a CB mic has 2 wires that go to the mic element..... run one to the ground pin and the other to the hot pin on the XLR jack.

open the CB mic, see what the color of the wires are that are connected to the mic element and solder them to a new XLR jack and rock on.

    Thanks guitar hacker !

Color won't really help unless you know what they go to on each end.  You need the + side of the CB element to pin 2 of the XLR and the - or shield to pin 1.  You can also use a HiZ to Low Z transformer for better match to your gear.  In that case wire the two CB mic wires to a guitar plug and use the guitar plug to XLR (or direct box) to connect to your mixer or audio interface.

CB mics will have extra pins for the key switch. If you want the switch to work solder a low value resistor from one side of the switch to shield (ground) and the hot wire (in and out) to a contact that closes when the mic is not keyed. That will mute the mic when not in use.  Think of the resistor as a volume control that is fixed at almost all the way off.

The mic may already have that stuff inside. If you don't want to alter the mic get a 4 pin cable mount socket to match the plug and make a adapter cable.
Check out e-bay auction 110519728053 I'll bet if you messaged that guy he could make any cable you want.
