Anyone looking for a larger video monitor.....

NewEgg has the Hanns-G 27" video monitor on sale for $199 with free shipping.
These monitors are awesome for DAW work...I have two of them and both have worked flawlessly for years.
Some people don't like the 1920x1080 resolution...but it works perfect for me when using Sonar or Sony Vegas.

    For $199, I bought a brand new 32" HDTV, and that is my secondary display.  My Primary display is a 46" HDTV.  Having screens that big and split across two displays is FABULOUS.
     
    The display requirements for the graphics in Sonar are so basic, HDTV's work just fine for Sonar, and I got WAY more bang for the buck by getting TV's instead of visually better but more expensive traditional PC displays, such as the 27" one you mention in this thread.
     
    Anyways, whatever works for folks is the way to go, so those who are happy with the image appearance using larger HDTV's for displays go that route, and those who appreciate the more refined image of a purpose-built computer monitor screen, flat-panel, can go theirs.
     
    Either way, you can get a lot of display for not too much money.

    I had two of the same monitors, bulky but good. I have since moved on to a single Dell 27" with higher rez.

    It's not 1280 x 1200.  The extra 120 pixels give you a bit more room vertically for track lanes.

    Samsung have just released a 27 inch monitor with an extremely slim bezel which would be great for multiple monitor setups.

    I would suggest if you are in the market for a new monitor, you check out the ASUS 27 inch multi touch monitor.  Great rez, IPS and of course, TOUCH enabled with SONAR is like having a RAVEN.
     
    I have the 23 inch model also but the extra bucks for the 27 inch is worth it, IMHO.
     
    If you shop around, you might be surprised how affordable this larger format touch screen can be.

    I currently have a 24" 1920x1080 monitor.  Would a larger monitor with the same 1920x1080 resolution, such as the 27" Hanns-G cited by the OP, just make everything look larger, but not show anymore of the interface on the screen (for example it wouldn't show more tracks vertically, or more of the timeline horizontally)?  
     
    If that is the case, then I assume if I want more real estate to show on the screen, I would need higher resolution, right?

    Correct - higher resolution give you a little more vertical real estate for additional tracks or less scrolling in the PC.  
     
    When I first went from to 1200 from 1080, for example, I noticed that the extra pixels allowed me to see an entire default PC channel strip (in X1) without scrolling.  Of course, we now have CE and other modules so I do scroll more... though I don't mind the tradeoff. 
     
    I currently run two 24" Viewsonics, but if and when I upgrade again I would definitely look into a flat screen TV(s) instead.
