Anyone near the south east Rhododendrums?

I'm planning on looking for some up on Mt. Pisgah in a couple weeks?

How's the timing looking this year?

best,
mike

Rhododendrums?  Are they anything like these:

    Rhododendrons?

They are not quite in full bloom yet here in the south east.  Tunbridge Wells cricket week is normally set to co-incide with their magnificent fullness at the Nevill ground.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nevill_Ground

They are considered by many as an invasive weed here since their mass escape from ornamental gardens during the 19th century and are particularly widespread in the South East.

They were great fun to build camps in as a kid though.

Perhaps you are speaking of the imported variety?

We have both imports and natives.

The imports make popular plantings of spectacularly dense color.

The natives thrive up on the Appalachian mountain ridge and can be spectacular if you can get your self to it on the week it all happens.

    best regards,

    We don't have natives.

You must be thinking of Rhodan’s Rhoto Tom solo on Rhihanna’s Live From Rhodesia CD
