Anyone running on an Atom?
I'm looking for the minimal DAW, and was wondering if anyone here is using MC on an Acer 10 inch netbook with a 1.6 GHz Atom chip and 1 GB RAM. It runs Lounge Lizard and Tassman OK even with on-board WDM sound card. If not - any suggestions to something that could run and mix two to three tracks midi and two or three tracks audio with an AISO USB card? (This is for a motorcycle studio).

I've heard somewhere, maybe it was in a thread here in the past, that the net books don't really have the power or whatever they need to run DAW software like it's supposed to be run. You might be able to run simple setups....IDKFS.?

I'm not sure what a 'motorcycle studio' is, but if you already have the computer, go for it. If it doesn't work, go for the biggest, fastest machine you can afford.

Motorcycle Studio=minimal. Traveler Speedster, 10" Acer with Atom and 1GB, ION Discover 25 USB Keyboard, Lounge Lizard, Behringer UCA202 USB sound card (ordered), and the energy 2.5 DAW the UCA202 ships with is said not to work, so I'm looking... You just want the smallest stuff you can get by with on a motorcycle. By next year they'll probably have something small and powerful enough. The whole idea I have only needs six tracks max, and no effect loops or sends. Gotta dream eh?

The whole idea I have only needs six tracks max I've had ideas like that before. Didn't work. Have you tried the Energy DAW in this computer?

I'm a bit more optimistic coming from the days when Pro Audio 9 and 128 MB Ram was hot. I still have that machine and it sounds great. A dual Atom with 2 GB probably would work, but what the heck - this isn't for pro use. I may just give MC a shot. I could always use it on a better machine later. If I do, and it works I'll let you know. I've heard so many bad things about the "energy DAW" that I wouldn't even try it. Sounded nice on paper though.
