Anyone try the "Overwrite" recording option? Crash crash crash everytime.

I changed my recording settings from comping to overwrite. Now it will record a take fine, but when I try to record a second take/try it crashes every time and does not get caught by the bug reporter. It just totally hangs.  I can just restart the program and change it back to comping and all is good, but this one is odd. It's really the only crash type issue I've ever had with any of the Sonar X series, so I guess I should consider myself lucky. It's not a deal breaker for me, as the comping option works fine and dandy.. still though... Opinions?

Outline you steps to reproduce the crash. Do you have loop points set, how many measures looping, what instruments are in your project, sample rate, bit depth, etc...

16 bit/44k. no loop points. new project. change from comp to overwrite. record the first take of audio for 3 seconds. press stop. press record again. crash.

I just tried this and is working fine. This is repeatable for you?

I have tried it in mono and stereo. No crash. I did notice that extraneous lanes are created with each overwritten take and the lanes are not reused.  I ended up with over 8 unpopulated lanes with my recreate attempt. Looks like lane housekeeping needs some work.

Hmmmmm... that's weird. I've been recording like that constantly since X3 came out, not one single crash. How are your disks? Dunno if this could be a write problem or something?

Thanks people. Yea It's repeatable for me. I scanned and defragged my drive, but that wasn't the solution. Good news, it did cough up a dump report and got sent to cake so I hope they can figure it out in the future. Like I said, no biggie for me; I'll just use comping as It's very solid. I just wanted to see if anyone else had encountered this glitch.
Other than this little snag I love the software.
