Anyone used Sonar ACT on the Oxygen 88? Doesn't work for me....

I have tried unsuccessfully to get sliders and knobs on the Oxygen 88 to control features in Sonar X2 using ACT. The learn procedure to seem very straight forward, but sonar does not respond slider or knob turn in learn mode. Is there a template available for the oxygen 88? Is there something I need to do to the Oxygen 88 to map sliders etc? I installed the latest Driver for Windows 7 64 bit. Anyone tried this??

There is a template for the Oxygen 61 which I have and have used and which seems to work ok. I would guess the controls are the same between the Oxygen 61 and the 88 (?) To be honest I don't use ACT a lot with this controller, and I find ACT itself to be less than intuitive. But then I am a knucklehead.
I believe the preset is set up to use Preset 10 - by default it controls the volume via the sliders and pan via the rotaries as track strips.
Currently I use AC-7 and my iPad as a control surface when I use anything at all, and simply use Midi Learn for soft synth control, recording the automation via knob tweaks, then re-purposing the knobs for the next synth etc - far easier for my simple mind to grasp.
I found a few early threads from the days when ACT was first introduced, including someone with an Axiom 49 (maybe Modbod?) that helped a lot, and I believe Fastbikerboy has done some videos on using ACT -
The Oxygen will definitely work under ACT though, and the preset should get you started but as I mentioned you would have to physically set the controller to preset 10 and go from there, IIRC.
    (I believe I mentioned I am a knucklehead).

    Hi Brando,

Thanks for your reply.     I will try the Oxygen 61 preset in the Sonar ACT set up.   I am a little confused by your statement here though >>  "you would have to physically set the controller to preset 10"

What controller are you referring to, the Oxygen 88?  Is so is this done with the hardware?

It would be great if M-audio could provide better support for Sonar!   It's not like it is obscure.

Yes. On my 61, I use the "Select" button to choose between "Global", "PGM" or "Preset" mode in the LED display - use "Select" to toggle the Dot between the 3 modes, then use the "-" and "+" keys to move to P10 (Preset 10) and double check by toggling "Select" to "Preset" and making sure "P10" is displayed -
then I think the preset will work, after you do the MIDI learn thing in the Controller/Surface Properties -
    BTW:
Do you have the MIDI in and out (I don't think out is really necessary) set up as the MIDI ports for your Oxygen 88? In my case, I am using the USB Midi in/out, so mine say "OXygen 61 Midi in" (and out).
If you are using a MIDI cable, you would have to use the MIDI port you have your Oxygen hooked up to.

OK finally got it working!   Setting the Oxygen 88 to preset 10 was only part of the issue.  (but thanks for pointing that out).   The other issue was that 'controller' must be selected onder MIDI preferences within Sonar X2 in order for MIDI learn to work.   Controller is unchecked  by default apparently.

I am having the very same problem.

In the ACT settings where you see all the "cells" I cannot see all that are on the 88.

I have set the 88 to P10 and checked the boxes as a midi in/out source in the controller surface options.

Is their a tutorial somewhere that can help me with this. I want to get every slider, rotary and button performing some function or another. How do I create a custom layout?

I am somewhat of a beginner with this. I am getting myself in a twist. Any help will be very appreciated.

    In anticipation
