Yup, Been using a MIDI guitar with Sonar for over 10 years... started out with a ROLAND interface... switched over to a AXON 50... NIGHT AND DAY... the Axon is the way to go. I also have a GODIN LA guitar with the builtin MIDI pickup... Together, they work like a charm.

With the Axon 50 mate, have you had any problems with the socket on the Box, its really hard to get the cable out of mine, and I am worried i am going to break something everything time I use it. How robust are they?

I've been using the Roland GI-20 interface + GK-3 pickup with numerous problems due to controller messages from each string while in Mono six string mode. Setting the GI-20 up is a real headache and it doesn't play nice with several soft synths or other Midi devices I use. Read the Crgs VS 700 thread. Here again is another testimonial stating the Axon's are the way to go.

A big + 1 on the AXON AX100 and the Godin guitar. Mine works great too. With the MKII version you can save and manipulate the sys-ex on your computer. Also have the Peavey Cyberbass (ebay) it works pretty good too. Was working great last night - I was walkin' !. AcousticsampleS has a really good (and cheap) full size upright bass library and a really good jazz drum set - both on sale this summer. Mike

I just want to double check here. Now with the Axom 100 http://www.axon-technolog...amp;sid=1&menu=101 You can obviously record a sample sound out from the unit into sonar and at the same time be recording another GM MIDI track into sonar also right? How much Latency is involved?

The HUGE thing to consider is the pickup. The BOTTOM LINE when it comes to midi guitar is to make sure you get a controller that senses the string at the bridge fulcrum (piezo pickup). The hardest thing for a Guitar-to-midi interface to do is to decipher the fundamental root note from the harmonics. The piezo pickups help with this tremendously. Anything with a hex pickup under the strings (like Roland GK-series) will always leave you with lackluster results. I have a Godin LGX-SA that tracks like lightning through both my GI-20 and Axon50. L.R. Baggs (what Line6 Variax uses), RMC piezos (what Godin uses) and the new Graphtech Ghost pickup system are all phenomenally fast. As far as the modules: I bought the Axon50 thinking there might be improvement in the low E string response, but there was no improvement at all. I would just go with best price here.

Seems to me like USB would be the most forward looking feature - thus the AX 50. Just don't understand why they wouldn't have put a USB port on the AX 100.

I've seen folks have great results with both hex pickups and piezo pickups. I keep thinking about getting a piezo guitar, and then I see Pat Metheny still using the GK pickups. I think it's mostly a matter of technique and proper pickup adjustment.

I'm using the AXON AX100MKII for almost all my MIDI recordings (my keyboardplaying really sucks). The AXON is great for playing softsynths, but the internal sounds is a joke. My only problem is when I change presets on the AXON, the sound from Dimension Pro disapears and it need to be restarted. If this is a problem with DimPro or the AXON I don't know....(maybe it's just me)

Hmmm - The Axon must be transmitting something when you're changing presets, which is being processed by Dim Pro. Shouldn't be a problem with Dim Pro. Maybe use MIDI-OX to see what is being sent by the Axon so you can filter it out, or see of there is a setting on the Axon to prevent it from sending program changes (or whatever it's sending).
