Anyone using NI Symphony Series

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with NI's new Symphony Series instruments, including the Symphony Strings and Horns Ensemble.  I was wondering if it would be good investment, given the plethora of other great orchestral sample orchestras, and I already tried out EastWest using Composer Cloud, but dropped it because I found it not to my liking and difficult to set up.
I've heard nice demo's of Albion One, and i know there are others (Symphobia, Cinesamples, 8DIO,etc.), kind of looking to add this sort of thing, as most of my current stuff is a bit out of date, orchestral-wise. Since I now have Kompolete 10 Ultimate, and so far I'm not sure the Sessions Strings Pro is quite up to snuff for serious (non-pop) stuff) and  love Session Horns Pro, but that is primarily a pop library, which is fine, but....Looking for something seriously orchestral). I'm not a fan of Garritan, I know they have a new GPO, but there are already some threads about that one.
Thanks in advance, cheers.

You may want to check Miroslav 2 over at IK. It's really good and there's a lot of bang for the buck.

I've heard mixed reviews about them. The Brass seems to get more love, but the Strings seems to disappoint people. I don't own either of them.

If you've tried the Hollywood Series from EastWest, you might want to look into BML range from Spitfire Audio.

I actually have Miroslav 1, but rarely use it, as it is 32 bit. The new one might well be worth looking at, although I kind of stopped using my IK desktop stuff and mostly use their IOS apps now, which are pretty darn good. And yes, Spitfire Audio is on my short list. Still would like more testimonials/reviews of the Symphony Series, as I am somewhat partial to Komplete Instruments and Kontakt sample libraries in general. But it's good to get as many opinions as possible.

I could get Miroslav 2 for 168 using my Jam Points. Might just be a no-brainer. Good call.

VSL special editions are on sale this month, so you might check those out. I have their chamber strings and their woodwinds and they sound fantastic, although they have a concert sound instead of a cinematic sound.

The new kontakt stuff seems to be good, but on places like vi-control people aren't raving about it. I imagine it's because although they're good they don't do anything better than the competition and they're a bit expensive.

Checkout impact soundworks for horns. Theirs sound good, not too expensive and you can buy they peice by peice.

All of Spitfire Audio is run by Kontakt and most of them are Kontakt Player compatible so you can add them to as a library. :)

You might think carefully about Miroslav 2. It is arguably more a rompler intended for an instant concert sound than an orchestra for more detailed studio work. To some extent it is also a vibrato string machine with other instruments getting less attention.

Bigcatt, I sort of came to that conclusion somewhat, after watching their videos. I haven't used Miroslav 1 in years, or Sampletank (although their IOS Sampletank is actually pretty nice). It's just that for the price I thought it might have some use. Probably just going to keep on collecting info and hope for a sale when my preferred package is clearer.
Keep the feedback coming, folks, I appreciate it more than you know. There's just tooo much of eveything to taste at the smorgasbord....must.take.time.

So much is opinion of course. I know it is older, but I really like the Kirk Hunter Diamond for Kontakt. I think I got it on sale for a bit over 100 bucks on a group buy. Then again since you are trying to update, maybe older stuff like Hunter is what you are trying to upgrade from...

Dunno if this helps, but VI's big guide to orchestras...

How about UVI Orchestral Suite? Is it better than IKM Miroslav Philharmonik 1/2?

I read that UVI Orchestral Suite was a re-issue of Motu Symphonic Instrument which is about a decade old. It is 4.5 gigs.

I think the OP is more at the VSL, Spitfire or ProjectSam level, which for most of us is dreaming out loud.

Well I see that the symphony series from NI is getting no love in this thread. However, I use it quite a bit. Regarding the strings, it's my favorite library for legato strings and portamento. And the auto-divisi is a great feature.

The Brass Ensemble I use a lot for slow brass chords. The french horns can also do great soaring melodies when you want something a little less epic than Metropolis Ark.

Both libraries were just updated by the way.

The brass melodies in the song below are Sym Series Brass Ensemble. The string melody at the very end is Sym Series String Ensemble. (the other strings are NI Emotional Strings).
