Anyone using Novation SL MKII Automap with Sonar?

It says on Novation's website that Automap will recognize the transport controls but for some reason the only thing I can get to work is the faders for the console.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  I'm new to the Automap thing.

Did you have any joy with the transport controls ?.

I don't have the SL, but I have a Nocturn keyboard which is very similar, but with a keyboard.
I don't use the transport controls on the Nocturn, I use the Alesis control surface for that.

If you're not having any joy, I'll have a crack at the Nocturn KB and see if that's any help.

This might help.  I don't use this controller went with the roland instead due to the affiliation with cakewalk.  hope it helps

I have an sl mk 2, but haven't set it up yet, simply as I've not had time.. BUT more than probable you need to set it up as MMC / midi learn via the midi port of the sl 2. as things like say "automap" is kinda seperate , e.g. you'll notice it works great when wrapped with the VST's you have.. but on the same token you can use cakewalks ACT.

you should be able to select either a real or virtual midi port on the unit (as it transmits midi) and do a midi learn. where you can teach the buttons to respond to things like play etc..

I dunno if thats stored as XML , perhaps it is.

I'm pretty sure novation haven't done a decent setup guide for sonar on their site.. but other hosts they have.. perhaps they can with the x1 trial version.

I'll have a look into it when I get time, but if you contact novations support they'll have some pointers at least I'm sure.. but I'm guessing it'll boil down to midi learn / using the midi (or virtual midi) port on it

I'm interested in this too - considering a Novation MkII controller - so thanks for the link.  Thing is, that guide was for Sonar 7, but in X1(x64), the Novation Automap Universal is not one of the available controller choices.  (I'm guessing because it's now direct competition?)

Looks like controller definitions are .dll files in the shared surfaces folders.  Anyone know how to get the Novation Automap in there?

if you look in "advanced" device setup.. you might see a big difference in whats listed  , I really haven't had the time to mess with it..

as for the whole "automap" thing.. it's mainly on the plugins.. if you look at any "wrapped" vst that sujpports it

errm but as with other keyboards, e.g. the axiom a 2 pronged approach is the way some of the time.. MMC / transport and the rest either via ACT / automap.. but automap doesn't cover the DX plugs
