I have a VM-3100 pro and R-bus card also. Is there an easy way to set them up as a control surface in Sonar 7. Thanks.

Stratguy,

I know this is an old post of yours but I just saw it and thought I would reply. This sounds like a clock source issue you are having. If I am not mistaken, when using the SPDIF input on the VM3100 Pro, you have to set the VM3100 Pro as a slave and the connecting device such as your GT-Pro as the master clock source. You may also need to adjust your DAW software accordingly but I do believe that should solve your problem.

Best of luck.

I am using the VM3100, RPC-1 and I have a Johnson J-Station that I used the SPDIF on when I first purchased but due to having to alter the clock source settings, I just used the 1/4 outs and honestly my ears don't reallly hear the difference. I hate to get bogged down with too much technical stuff when I am trying to create music so that was an executive decision!

M-audio Rbus cards, a RPC-1

Isn't M-Audio R-Bus cards the same as RPC-1?
I was sure that was the case ...

Best Regards

Ditto... I'm using all three of those! Though I never used the SPDIF on the J-Station since I remember others stating the same thing you just did - no difference in sound quality to speak of, and more hassle than using the 1/4" outs.

I'd really like to get a "real" control surface some day, though I'm just not sure how much I'd use it since I'm so used to mixing with a mouse. The VM3100 really didn't turn out the way I expected as a CS, but as an interface it has some nice features.

***Bump***  I have a VM3100 Pro sitting here doing nothing. I realize it's limited to 44.1. Is this worth keeping around? Control surface?
