You can't go wrong for $29, particularly the Bass cabs. [Edit: I noticed it was GTR Solo, not the full GTR 3 - which I would snap up in a millisecond if it was $29! GTR Solo doesn't have as much stuff.]

I was fortunate enough to get GTR with Waves Gold package at a real knockdown price. It's great, worth it for bass cabs alone as mentioned above, but tons of guitar stuff too.
I have saved myself a packet in buying a number of Waves plugins by keeping an eye on the Deals forum, and buying them from EveryPlugin.

I have the GTR3 and use the heck out of it. Everything from amps to cabs to pedals and the tuner. Not sure what's offered in Solo.

That's a decent deal for Solo, but unless you're hurting for amp-sims, I'd wait for the full version to go on sale. I picked it up last year at Everyplugin for $24. This summer it was bundled free with CLA guitars for $39! Waves has constant sales, so just keep an eye on the Deals sub-forum. *I just looked at everyplugin, and GTR3 Full is currently $49.89 with QDA63 discount code.

Great comments/insight everyone. Never heard of everyplugin b4. I signed up and will watch, along with Waves sales, for full GTR3 to go on sale. Thanks all!

I think GTR3 has a lot of stompboxes and useful low CPU fx but I never really liked the actual amps/overdrive/distortion compared to S-Gear or even Amplitube or TH3. Good tip about the bass cabs though, I haven't used those at all!

I got it with Waves Gold bundle. Very good sounding. I see it as yet another option for getting the tone I want for a particular song.

I own way too many guitar sims, and pretty much standardized on GTR3 and CLA Guitars, especially for smooth high-gain tones. If you want it, I agree with the advice about waiting for a better price for it. I got GTR3 Solo for $18 originally, then upgraded to full GTR3 for $12 when Waves handed out a $30 coupon. Unlike with a lot of devs, their coupons can be applied to upgrades. Unless they've changed that recently. Not bragging about the deal, just saying that, if you're patient, deals do come around.
All that said, I'm having a serious love affair with Blue Cat's new Destructor. IMHO, it's head and shoulders above any other sim I've tried. Put your own compressor and gate in front of it, maybe turn off the post-amp filter in Destructor and add your own cab sims, such as Recabinet, Rosen IRs, and so on. Add a touch of delay, some reverb, and the sound is amazing and alive. You may want to demo it and save your pennies if you're looking to own just one really high-quality sim. As usual, YMMV, of course.

I have GTR plus several others, and while I think it is a great sim, I feel that it seems a bit too bright compared to my others. I usually eq it to take some of the brightness out of it. Your mileage may vary...
