Anyone using a Delta 1010LT and Delta 44 together?

I currently have a 1010LT and regularly record 8 tracks simultaneously. I just picked up some (more) drum mics, and would like to go from recording 4 drum mics (BD,SD, and 2 OH) to 7 (close micing the toms). I've run out of inputs on the 1010LT as I also have to record bass, 2 guitars, and vox. I figure that the Delta 44 would be just the thing, as the Delta cards are supposed to be "stackable". I'm just curious about any problems I might run into before I buy.....MF sent me a 20% off voucher recently, and I'm chomping at the bit...

My system is running XP sp2

Thanks for any input/advice....
Rob

You don't want to use the 44, it has no digital or clock input so there is no way to get the two cards synced up correctly. Get another 1010LT and use the Word Clock connections to tie them together. Set the second one to get clock from the Word clock input.

that's not necessary, frank. the m-audio delta series cards get sync'd together by m-audio's software. the software tells the cards to act as one and you can add up to 4 of the delta cards together to sync as one card. they end up using one of the cards as the master and disabling the clock on the other, then routing the clock from the master to the slaves - and it's all switched in their software.

rob - I briefly had a 1010LT and a 44 in my computer at the same time, but I never actually recorded anything with that many inputs. I did record using both card's inputs, but not simultaneously. I ended up selling the 1010LT because I decided I wasn't going to be recording that many channels at once. I know that the cards worked well together in the m-audio software as I described above.

Humm.. that's a cute trick but I'm not sure I would trust it to get the clock from one card to the other using only the PCI bus. Can you do a jumper cable from one card to the other like with Lynx and RME cards ?

no, there's no way to jumper them physically like the Lynx and RMEs, although I'm sure that would be a much better implementation. I don't know the details on the routing of the clock thru the PCI bus, but it seems to work fine. there are actually several people I've read in the Sonar forum using more than one delta card that way.
