Have you lowered your latency? If you installed everything with the latest drivers and have it set up correctly in sonar, that sall you need to do. just lower your latency. Have you installed the latest drivers forums.presonus.com? Are you in ASIO driver mode? Can your pc handle low latency? Cj

If you read the manual, it says WDM mode is not recommended. You should be using ASIO mode for the best performance.

64 ms is a very long latency, I suppose you mean samples? The ASIO panel often shows the latency in ms only, though. Make sure you're not confusing samples to ms. Below 10 ms is a nice latency that allows seamless DAW-work, below 6 ms is excelllent latency. I see you are using Caviar Green hard drives for audio. Very likely you will have problems with them sooner or later. Those green drives have various kinds of automatic power saving/sleep mode things which go very poorly together with audio work, during which the HDD may stand idle for 4 minutes and then it's supposed to deliver big samples in 2 milliseconds. Put those gear specs in your signature, like others have done. Then you don't need to rewrite them every time you ask something.
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Make sure the Presonus is the only audio device in your Sonar Preferences - Devices. Go into the Presonus' ASIO control panel and set the number of samples to 256 or 128.

Thanks sorry I did mean samples - my bad, here is the release notes from the latest frimware for the box: * PC Only - Removed Option for 32 Samples Per Buffer * PC Only - Operating at 44.1KHz or 48KHz Lowest Buffer Option is 64 Samples * PC Only - Operating at 88.2KHz or 96KHz Lowest Buffer Option is 128 Samples Mine is set to 64 Samples. ++I see you are using Caviar Green hard drives for audio. Or is there something hard coded in the bios of those disks which means it can't be gotten rid of? Thanks for your help hopefully my signature now has the specs in it?

Good question, actually, as I've never studied those green drives specifically. The Windows power saving tweaks are for any type of HDDs, so I just assume the green drives have something the "normal" ones don't, because everybody warns about them repeatedly on these forums. Otherwise - what would be the "greenness" in them? They don't load any HDD specific software when you install them (like many external HDDs do)? Maybe someone with actual knowledge could share some light on the question.
