Anyone using an M-Audio Axiom 61?

Suddenly my pitch bend wheel only bends about a 1/4 tone.
I checked the manual to see how to adjust it but can't find specifically how to do so....there's only a reference in the appendix.
I googled the issue but all of the M-Audio forums that discussed it seem to have been removed.
I then looked for a way to reset to factory settings but only found hold + and - while powering on but it does nothing here.
Can someone tell me how to do either of these (preferably the former).
Thanks very much,
Randy

    Hi,
Did you check Appendix F in your manual for pitch bend control range?

The real issue is the fact that you see MIDI data changing withotu moving the controller.
That's likely a hardware thing, and also the reason you aren't able to get 0-127 with
pitchbend. I've seen that problem happen on older keyboards like the Radium (though it
was a knob or slider that was sending data).

Note though, the pitch bend wheel on the Axiom is actually a 14 bit controller (as opposed
the standard 7 bit with Midi) and has 16,384 "steps" (-8192 to 8192). The LCD should
still show 127 when pushed all the way up, 64 in the center, and 0 when all the way down.
The Pitch Bend wheel should be assigned to midi CC 144 (press "Ctrl Assign" to assign the
CC), and with this CC, Data 1 is not used, pressing that button does nothing. Data 3 is the
Max value (set it to 127), Data 2 is the Min Value (set it to 0). Again, the CC should be
    144. If you still can't get 0-127, and are seeing the value change on the Axiom's LCD
wihtout actually moving the pitch wheel, it's a hardware problem. Contact your dealer if
you're within their return period, otherwise M-Audio can set you up with a reapir.

Thanks for that Rimshot but I am seeing 0 at the bottom, 64 at middle and 127 all the way up.
My issue is that the bend sensitivity needs to be adjusted and I haven't been able to get to that screen.
What's weird is I did this a couple of years ago (to 1/2 note) but I can't remember how the heck I got there.
Using the pdf manual I searched for pitch bend, sensitivity, etc but can't seem to find which buttons would get me to that page in the LCD.
Thanks again for your efforts my friend,
    Randy

If you're not using it for live performance, you could just use it as-is and then scale the recorded parameters (for now, until you get it figured out).

You could also use a MIDI-modifying plugin to multiply the range of the pitch bend wheel.

Thanks Ki...if you mean draw it in the controller lane, it didn't make a difference when I tried before but tomorrow I'll try to delete the existing one and draw another. If that's not what you mean then please elaborate.

There's no rush on this project but I may have to come back and get you to tell me more about what plug-in in X3 would do this.
    Thanks again Ki,

Did you try reloading Preset 17 (or whatever you use?).

I could probably figure this out, but the Axiom is so notoriously weird to program that I almost never change anything.

I used to use Enigma, but that no longer works in Windows 8.

The key code combinations are really non-intuitive and crazy... I get a headache thinking about it.

A good question might be what are you bending with the Axiom.  I also have an Axiom 61 as well and never had an issue.  If the Axiom is sending out the correct range for this controller code than the Axion itself may not be the issue.

What usually determins how far anything will bend will be the synth or instrument on the receiving end. Bend range is set there, not in the controller so much.  ( I know you can in the Axiom but I have never altered it, I have always altered the range in the receiving device)  Have you checked the instrument on the receiving end has not changed.

Try another instrument there as well and see if you are getting the same result.  I suspect you wont.

Thanks very much everyone...Jeff it was Musiclab's Real LPC guitar in a very old project.
I first deleted the CC data and drew it in bending up to 127 but still only got 1/4 tone pitch bend...same when using the controller...I then opened another instance of LPC and the controller works as expected.
The old track had Guitar Rig on it which has since been replaced by THC so maybe that had something to do with it.
Anyway, everything is cool now...thanks again everyone!
