Apogee Question

If one is running 2 delta 1010's, how would I get the same capabilities using the Apogee converters? (i.e. 16 ins, 16 outs)

Thanks,

If you are going to spend that much money I would suggest you also look at the Lynx Aurora 16.

Apogee has 16 channel units in either AD or DA (sold separately) so to do what the 2 deltas do you would need one of each and a sound card with 16 digital channels. Should be able to get the entire system for about $7,000.

If you want that kind of quality with the ease of use of your system I would go with the Lynx Aurora 16 and the Lynx AES-16. You should be able to get that system for under $4,000 and it will sound as good or better then the Apogee and will autoswitch sample rates just like a normal sound card. You even get the zero latency software mixer like the M-audio.

With those soundcards, I noticed that they don't have 1/4" inputs, outputs, they have D-sub. How would I connect my pres and my montors amd headphone amps, etc.?

You just have to have the correct snake, I'll bet it follows the Tascam pin out just like Mackie does so they should be easy to find.

As always, Frank's on the money. He's also a dyed-in-the-wool lynx man but he's right none the less. Lynx Aroura is the way to go. As good if not better than the Apogee and the best latency performance you'll find anywhere.

I'll say this about the Aurora (I haave an Aurora 8 connected via the Lstream interface to a Lynx L22): it works perfectly (at least after the several months that I have had it), unlike my previous D1010 and all of its problems (humming, word clock sync problems that were never solved, MIDI activity causing clicks the audio path, annoying line lump ... it had to be returned twice for repair).

Plus, it sounds noticeably better than the D1010, especially with complex program material.

    Hello ohhey,

Is there a product out there either lynx or appogee quality has only minimal ins/outs just enough to record vocals or maybe something stereo.

    The apogee mini-series:

    or the LynxOne (2 I/O) or LynxTwo (4 I/O).

    Cheers.
