Apologies in advance..

We had a power outage this afternoon and it wiped out my FF800 interface. All my gear was plugged into surge protector/ line conditioner and is fine, so don't know why this was singled out. Had it 4 yrs. and ran flawlessly...

I'm working on getting another interface, but, in the mean-time, can't listen to the songs on here or record as everything ran thru this thing and it's been 'one of those days'....

I was looking forward to hearing a bunch of tunes that have been posted, so. my apologies in advance...

Aww shoot!!! What's happened is literally shocking and the loss (costs). That's a downer :(

The RME's are expensive, hmm maybe the FastTrack Ultra 8R, it has good solid drivers and mic pres, and costs only a fraction compared to RME which btw I think nowadays is overly expensive.

Jim Roseberry has recommended considering the FastTrack Ultra 8R, IMO it's fantastic value, EIGHT quality mic pres, it also has no-latency effects built-in (for rec/monitoring), and two headphone sockets.

I'm thinking of getting the model down from it $350 the FastTrack Ultra (four mic pres) because my current Edirol FA-66 mic pres (only two) aren't as good and mic-input.2 is blown, although I rarely use two mics at once it would be nice to have both!

Yea, I've been dreading the day my EMU-1820M takes a dump.  I would like to upgrade my audio interface to use a tube mic preamp, but I am putting off figuring out a new audio path and manipulation until I'm forced to.  I just brought everything up on a new computer and upgraded to 8.5.  That's enough excitement for awhile.

Oh well, it will all be good in the end, except the money missing from your wallet, but hey.. that's what it's for.

Warren, Bobby, James, 'Tall Bob', Greg, and Daryl - Many thanks fellas for the kind words of support, (and yes, I do feel lost w/o that interface!) However, there's always something good that comes out of crappy moments so....more time spent practicing the guitar, ripped out all gear and wires and cleaned (wife's happy) new interface arrived on my doorstep this afternoon and now trying to figure out how to set it all up and see if I can make the work-flow easier/better. (this could be dangerous) Have a long weekend to do this so timing is perfect!!

Hey Greg... I learned there's a few decent, quality interfaces out there under $500 these days, and that makes me smile!! The RME was overkill for what I was doing, but it was stable and quiet.

    Chin up and all that!!

    As per SongCraft,
    I'm very sorry!

FWIW, my next interface will not be RME:

    1) RME's phantom power pre is 'noticeably' distorted/hyper-simblant
    2) RME's (German) tech support has never been acceptable (for me)
    3) I now can't boot my DAW with RME ff400 on ... without a blue screen.
    4) Firewire is becoming increasingly obsolete; its a USB world.
    5) I've had 3-4 motherboard$ fried while using the RME ff400.
    6) RME price$ are absurd (as per SongCraft also)
    7) RME DAC AC-DC conversion$ seem over-rated/insignificant to my ears.  (TBH, I get the same quality of sound from the UA G (cw) cards that cost $100).

Ohhhhh I remember one sad day when the power of the whole building disappeared and when I tried to start my computer again the PSU was burnt. So was the 700$ Soundcard from Multisound. My RAP 10 from Roland only worked on the left channel and a NIC was fried too... So I bought a Furman. I dont know if it helps but I live in hope...
