Archived Tracks...

Hi Peeps,

I always thought that when you set the archive file on a track that it would be taken out of the equation with regards to CPU usage.

It appears, to me at least, not to be the case.

I have a project on the go with a single instance of Reaktor 6. I use Metaphysical Function to help create long evolving drones.

Having recorded the audio output, I then set the archive flag for the Reaktor tracks, and the audio was placed onto a new track. I then hid the Reaktor track.

I then created a number of effects busses containing instances of Timeless, Breverb, Pro-R, Pro-L, Adaptiverb, MGranularMB, MUnision and MRingModulatorMB. So, yeah, I have to admit that I do have some potentially heavy processing going on here.

Much time was then spent adding automation to fader and send levels and, for a while at least, everything was going okay and I managed to get everything as I liked, except for a final level. So I just let the project play, watching the meters and the automation lanes, to see what needs further tweaking.

But now, each time the project got to a particular point, I got audio dropouts and the project stopped, with a RTZ.

I checked what other processes were running on my system and I stopped a few (like Google sync for instance).

Still the same audio dropout at around the same location.

I checked LatencyMon and everything was in the green.

So, I made a copy of my project and deleted Reaktor.

Now the project plays all the way through without stopping. Still pushing the CPU meter though...

cheers
