Are nerdy jazzers fakes?
?? They learn so much theory that they can make a rad dupe, and yes they have the chops. But are they capable of anything original? I think one has to be cool in order to play jazz. :D:D

Most of the jazz players I know are defiantly un-cool. Some are nerds, to be sure. But they represent a far broader cross-section of humanity than, say, the metal or EDM monocultures.
But if you prefer the company of iconoclasts, nonconformists and generally unpretentious people, you'll be happiest among folks musicians, traditional or contemporary.
 All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to. My Stuff

I don't think you could fake either one. Jazz is original, as in usually improvised from the beginning. I have a set of piano Jazz cheater cards. Maybe not the same thing.
