Are the Andy Johns and Neil Peart kits worth getting?

I have the Infinite Player Kontakt version of the Neil Pert Drums...they're AWESOME...and HUGE...

+1 on all counts. However the SD3 version is only a sub set of the Kontakt version. There was a thread with a comparison posted a while back. The upside is it wont be as resource hungry as the Kontakt version. I think the BFD version is roughly equivelent to the Kontakt version.

Thanks guys! I'll use that groove monkey code...Thanks scook. I would love to have Neil Pearts kit, but I think I'm hearing pass on the Session drummer version. I think I'll hold out for the upgrade to SD2.

They are selling  the SD3 version for $49.

Hmmm. I'm pretty interested in this Infinite player thing, but how would that work? Do I load it as a synth and drag in midi? Is there a free Kontakt player? Can I download that and then buy the Neil Peart library? It all sounds promising. I wish they had an EZ drummer version. Session drummer just seems to plain to me. I would like to be able to use room mics and overheads.

I think that's the way I will go scook. Thanks for the heads up. Will my Ez drummer kits work in SD?
 

I crossgraded from EZD to Superior Drummer 2 and it is worth it.
Just need to wait for some blowout $79 sales on the SDXs.

"Infinity player" is just a licensing mechanism that allows Sonic Reality libraries to work in the free Kontakt player. The kit runs in Kontakt Player. If you want to audition MIDI you would need to use the Sonar browser. Routing in Kontakt takes a bit of getting used to but once it clicks its reasonably straight forward. I have made Sonar Track Templates for NP drums so it always loads with multiple outputs.
 
If you want the full Neil Peart kit its the cheapest way of getting it. The BFD version is probably the best if you want full control in a dedicated drum interface. But of course that requires BFD.
 
Upgrading your EZ Drummer to Superior is a good route if you are looking for versatality. I suggest you get the Groove 3 "Superior Drummer 2 explained" video to get the most out of it as quickley as possible. It far more versitile and therefore more complex than EZ Drummer.

No argument. That is why I picked up the BFD Eco on the cheap. In case I feel the need for BFD2 too. For now Superior Drummer works for me. For those thinking about Superior Drummer 2 or those that just need a refresher, the Groove3 video does cover the plug-in pretty well. Just reading this I clicked on the, Audiomidi" link and whilst I didn't see anything about superior drummer 2 I clicked on deal of the week and discovered This.  
 
It's the same price as fxpasnion are selling it and yet audiomidi are saying it cost $199 which I'm not sure if it ever was that much but it certainly isn't now. Yes, there is a $14 redeeming voucher so you can get it for $84
They are however selling BFD2 for $149 (with redeeming coupon) which is $50 cheaper than the fxpansion site.
 
To the OP, if you can pick up BFD Eco on sale it's well worth while and will get you on the upgrade path to BFD2 and BFD3 is looming on the horizon.

The drum kit sounds good, but Session drummer is a pain. Maybe they will update it for X3.

Infinite Player loads as a library in Kontakt. It's a library of libraries, if you will. There are a crap ton of really excellent drum sample libraries available for IP through eSoundz that are very reasonably priced.

I have the Bill Bruford kit as well as the Neil Peart. It sounds pretty good until it starts machein gunning. Its lacking round robins, certainly not up to the NP kit standard.
