Are there Zoom options? Everytime I minimize a track folder Sonar jumps to the top track

I have 8 track folders with 8 tracks in each so 64 tracks in folders plus another 20 tracks.  Each time I minimize a folder, Sonar jumps me to track one so I have to scroll back down to the tracks I was working on.  It's extremely annoying and disrupts the work flow especially if I'm scrolled down to track 84.  Is there a zoom behavior option in Sonar?  Has anyone else experienced this?  I would think minimizing a folder should contract its tracks but that particular folder's header and surrounding tracks should stay in place.

not sure if this applies in your case but try switching Auto Zoom on/off.

Is it really "minimizing a folder" (which I interpret as dragging the bottom edge of the folder all the way up) or "closing/collapsing a folder"?

Is this what you are seeing?

A workaround for this issue is to have a track folder at the top of the track list. In other words, put track one into a folder and it will stop the view jumping to track one every time you close  a folder. Sounds mad but it works for me:)

Maybe what the OP and tenfoot are talking about is really an issue, but the one I posted isn't an issue (and I know why it happens).

Yes. This is what I'm seeing but mine doesn't jump like that if everything is in track folders. Tenfoot's suggestion seems to work. Previously my first tracks weren't in folders. By placing them in a folder the issue is now gone which will help out a lot.

I've also tried placing these individual first tracks, not in folders, below the existing folders and that looks to have fixed it as well.

    Thanks

Why does it happen? What you posted looks like unwanted behavior to me.

Yes - as long as there is a folder at the top it doesn't matter if you create one or just move an exsting folder.
I presume it is errant behavior, but not too troubling once you find the workaround. I believe it has been reported.

Why does it happen icontakt? Can't for the life of me imagine why this behaviour is intended.

I too thought it was a bug when I first encountered it, and took quite a while to realize it wasn't. As you can see in the image below, it's because of the "Track view" option under "Control Strips Visible in". If you use a control surface, you know what these options are for.

As for the issue you both are having, I'm guessing it's because you don't have the Console view loaded in the screen. A forum member (SquireBum) discovered about the same time last year that the issue occurs if you don't have the Console view loaded. It's better to load it, dock it in the MultiDock and collapse it. You can always expand the MultiDock by hitting D.

I've changed the option from "All Strips" to "Track view" and unlike yours, mine still jumps. However like you said, having the Console view loaded is another work around.

Sorry if my explanations weren't clear. The (intended) jumping behavior I presented occurs:

    1. even when the Console view is loaded and the first track is put in a track folder
    2. when at least one controller/surface is registered in Preferences Control Surfaces page and the "Track View" option is selected under Control Strips Visible in."

I still think it's a bug. In what way does this help me as a user? I don't have a control surface registered and it jumps till I either have the console view up or if the first tracks are in a folder.
I'm glad I came on this forum to find a work around and thank you for your help. I was about to jump ship to another DAW. I've been with Sonar for over a decade but it's stuff like this that's never addressed that makes my blood boil.

Yes, I too think that's a bug. When I read the original post, I totally forgot about the issue (which SquirBum discovered last year) and was only thinking about the one that happens according to the setting in Preferences' Control Surfaces page (which isn't a bug).

So, I suggest you report it via Problem Reporter. When the issue was discovered and confirmed by users last year, no one in the thread (including me) reported it to CW. I always have CV loaded and always put tracks into folders, so I didn't care about the issue.

Yes - the same issue with slightly different contributing factors and workaround icontakt. I thought it was reported previously,  but I could be wrong.

I don't know if this is related, but recently I have the same problem when using ctrl/page up and ctrl/page down to skip measures. The measures are skipped, but sometimes it will also change to the top track. Sorry if this is not a related condition to the OP.
