Aria/Garritan VST lowers volume Problem Solved

Hi,
I've been using Sonar since cakewalk 4 and of course I've updated every release now at Sonar Platinum. I'm having a problem now that I can't seem to figure out.

I create a Garritan GPO instrument using aria multi's when it is first loaded the volume is great. Once I bring the cursor back a few bars or rewind the volume lowers to a level that I can hardly be heard. Changing anything in sonar or the VST does nothing for it. My only way out is to reload the instrument.

Does anyone know or have seen this happen and how to fix it? This doesn't happen in Sibelius

Thanks,
Steve

This usually happens due to the position of the mod wheel. If Sonar resets the wheel when stopped then the next time you play the mod wheel will be at it's low position and that affects the volume output of the instrument.
You can turn off "Zero controllers when play stop" in Preferences (Project > Midi) or you can record automation on the mod wheel and make sure it is in a sensible position.

Hi. You do not happen to have any automation going on, knowingly or not?
    Best of luck.

Problem solved. I first tried the zero controllers but that left piano sustains on so I just put in a modulation envelope and set it for the middle. Now all is well. Thank you for the tips.
I should have thought of the modulation wheel. I've been burnt the same way before. However, I'm getting too old to remember all of this so again a big thanks,

    Good stuff.
You should amend your heading to show the problem as solved so people can bypass this thread.

I've had this happen a number of times when I hadn't used Aria for a while. I'll end up spending a lot of time trying to figure out why the instrument stopped playing until I remember about the "zero controllers" setting.

I'm sure there must be a good reason that it's set on as the default, but it seems that it would be better if it weren't.

I use the Aria/Garrit6an VST in both Sonar and Sibelius and I do not think I have every really had this issue.  When I export Midi from Sibelius I have check "This current playback device" and not the "general Midi" box.   This ensures that all of the mod wheel messages that Sibelius has put in are exported and imported into Sonar.
