Arpeggiator
I have just recently started to realize the potential of an apreggiator (I think) in regard to musical production. I am starting to educate myself and have watched Robyn's short clip, read Scott's overview in X1 Power and read the reference manual. That has given me a basic understanding and now I need to play with some of the pre-sets. I got to researching this when looking at some of the arpeggiator features on the Roland Gi, Yamaha MO6 and Korg M50. and saw and heard some of the demonstrations of this feature. Here are my questions if anyone can give me guidance to resources to help me dive in a little deeper. 1. Is there a place to get pre-sets beyond what comes with X1? 2. It appears that you could create an arpeggiation that would allow you to play the root note of a chord for say a bass instrument, allow it to arpeggiate between the 1, 3, 5 chords and create a riff and then record that part for creating music. 3. Arpeggiation seems to be the best way to get a better strumming sound out of a guitar patch (without actually playing it on a guitar of course). Is that true? 4. I know that this feature is used alot in electronic, hip hop and other styles of music but does it have a place in more acoustic pop, country, orchestra and folk based music? 5. Are there any good resources on the web that show these features in use? Just trying to tap the knowledge of the group about this one particular feature of Sonar. Learning Sonar seems like learning 50 new software program modules at once sometimes :) Any resources for learning, experimenting, or examples of audio , You Tube or otherwise would be appreciated. Thanks, Terry

Hi Terry, I personally like Arps and use it generally to give a little variation to a written song.....haven't really tried to write a complete song with it (possibly will be too mechanical). Your best bet would be to just experiment with all the features Sonar has and fit it into your style of music. You can also check the KVR website for some tutorials or user tips.....there's a lot of good and useful info on that site. You may be interested in this Kirnu Arp which I find to be really good: http://www.artovaarala.com/ Setting it up in Sonar took some effort, but there's a Youtube video done by an X1 user which helped alot. Good luck!!

Thanks Brando!! Is it as simple as just adding these presets into the Arpeggiator folder?

Mesh Thanks Brando!! Is it as simple as just adding these presets into the Arpeggiator folder? Hey, Mesh - I moved Tom Brockway's folder into the Sonar Arp folder - and just two seconds ago I turned on an Arp to take a look--Sure enough, they're all there. Wow - certainly looks more impressive than the two little folders that came with Sonar. Go get 'em! Randy B.

4partmusic Thanks everyone! This will give me more examples to look at and study as I learn about this. Terry Just turn that Arp on, load a pre-set and see what happens. Play with the note length value. If you like something, bounce a section to clip and that will apply the Arp to your sequence, and the Arp automatically turns off. Trial and error time. Randy B.

Bug! rendering ARP patterns "bounce" to MIDI track cause the render MIDI clip countless of double notes... up to 9 duplate MIDI data on same key... http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2292857
