Arrrrrgh. More drums?
Why am I so tempted to buy the new Andy Johns & Neil Pert drums for Session Drummer 3 when: a) I never user session drummer 3 b) I have Addictive with all packs, Jamstix 3 and all packs, EzDrummer with all but the new Pop Pack, Superior with all packs, All Abbey Road, Jet City, Battery 3, Drum Masters, Ocean Way & Slate. Someone tell me what's wrong with me.

this is a classic case of GAS with a specific diagnosis of "Drum Addiction" your only hope is to: 1) buy them and install them, open them once to audition them and never open Session Drummer 3 again thus causing an immediate gratification for the GAS purchase, but also an immediate remorse when the credit card bill comes. 2) tell your lovely lady that you have a problem with GAS. she'll look at you funny and go buy a purse with matching shoes while the room "airs out." 3) put your credit card in a bowl of water and put that in the freezer. you'll not be able to resist the urge to snatch it back out before it freezes and thus causing 2nd degree frost bite on your fingers with which you were SUPPOSED to use to massage your lovely lady's neck tonight. when you can't because you have frost bitten fingers and then she will subsequently take your credit card and shove it up Neptune...or something similar... 4) buy it and use it. PPPPPFFFFFFTTTTTT!!!! yeah, like #4 is really gonna happen!

Because no matter how many samples I have, I can't seem to program anything that sounds like Neil Pert playing. But surely I'm just one purchase away from that goal...

I dunno, $40 for the Andy Johns kit and you get that Ludwig snare crack you always wished for. Until, someone (hint Rail) ports that kit over to EZdrummer or Superior Drummer 2, that's the only way I can get it.

I love Andy Johns work, but wasn't really impressed with the sample on the Cakewalk Store site.......and why doesn't Session Drummer 3 have only one crash cymbal? They should have two....shouldn't have to assign one of the pads to a 2nd crash

They should have two....shouldn't have to assign one of the pads to a 2nd crash FYI: There is more than one crash - it's just the gui that doesn't show it. Each drum, cymbal and pad actually has multiple key numbers so if you input from a keyboard or even PRV you have access to all the different sounds. You can also change the key number on the gui itself if you want to hear what else is there.

Hmmmm. I just listened to the demo for Andy Johns. Uninspiring. Maybe I don't have that exact snare sound in the 1,324,752 snares I have but it was not all "that special" to me. Just noticed the order page for the Neil Peart does not have a demo. More than double the cost of Andy Johns and no demo.

IMHO, that fast Metal groove plays right into a weakness of Session Drummer 3 when handling low velocity hits coming quickly in a row. The slower demo lets the tone ring out more. I like the "Thwack" in the snare. To each his own, I guess - I happen to hate the Steven Slate drums that so many people are crazy about - so it could be a personal preference.

You know you want it. I rarely if ever use Session Drummer 3 either, but it works just fine. It's all about the sample content at the end of the day. I might spring for that Andy Johns kit as well. I like that snare. (Some better demos wouldn't hurt their cause either.)

Just did a little research on the Neil Peart Kit 1 (by sonic reality) for Infinite Player. esoundz.com has it for $75.65 (download). I have $8 credit. I already have Infinite Player (and Komplete 7) so for $67.65 the set can be mine. Can I assume they are the same samples, just a different player?

Maybe I can help. How about this "THAT IS ALL YOU GOT! ROOKIE!". There now that should help you spend more money. Happy now? ;) Let us know what you think of the Neil Peart kit, I'd consider it. Thanks for helping ME spend money too! Tom

I'm in an almost identical situation as you are Baps on this (credits & Infinite Player). I checked esoundz today and the price is actually $80.10 for the Neil Peart Kit 1 for download. However, there's a cinco de mayo sale (going on this weekend) where you can use a $25 coupon code PEARTCINCO at checkout. Now, the pricing is starting to look mighty attractive!! I may just get this for $46.10 (with my $9 credit). Of note, this $25 coupon won't reflect on the initial order page, but it will once you enter your CC/Billing info when you reach the page "Review and Place Order Now".

For me, the starting price was $75.65 (were you logged in? that usuaully gives me a lower price). The bummer is you can't seem to use epointz & coupons at the same time. No matter, it was still only $50.65. A far cry better than $99 (and I'm not saddled with Session Drummer 3 kits ).

Stiill a very good deal!!

You get the Baps Discount since you've been with them for awhile (for silver, gold, plat acctounts). Apparently, the $25 coupon overides the epointz and you can use one or the other.
