Arturia SparkLE & Spark 2 - NOT - compatible with Sonar, per OEM

Greetings All,
Having just purchased the new Arturia SparkLE controller and Spark 2 software, I had the stand-alone version working just fine,
but it would not work in Sonar X3e...

I just received an email back from Arturia's Tech Support concerning the new SparkLE controller and Spark 2 software:

"Hi,
Unfortunately our Synths are not compatible with Sonar X3.
Feel free to come back to me if still any problem or misunderstanding.
Yours cordially,
Amine.

Needless to say, even though I have their Laboratory 49 synth - which does work in Sonar -
I do not recommend Arturia to Sonar users!!

Caveat emptor,
MG

It is not strictly true have you installed the VST3 versions of these products?

If you have there in lies the problem.  According to Arturia the problem is to do with the way SONAR authorises VST3's.  In truth I have only had a problem with Arturia VST 3's so you can make your own mind up.

My suggestion would be to un-install then reinstall using a custom install and ensure you deselect any reference to VST3.

    Hope that works for you.

I have the entire Arturia V-Collection, and a couple of the VST3 synths also do not work in X3e.  They did seem to work in the X3c or X3d version (not sure which one, but I recall trying them all out at some point, so they worked in one of those).

So, I will be giving this remove/install process a go, to only put back the VST2 versions of those synths that don't work as VST 3.

I am sure that some future maintenance or a new release will resolve the issues between some of the VST 3 handling between Sonar and Arturia, and the synths themselves are FABULOUS, so I will cheerfully continue to use them.  64-bit processing and great sounds - the fact that some will be VST 2 doesn't bother me in the least.  I really don't do anything whatsoever with VST 3 spec features anyways, so VST 2 is fine.

Just wanted to add to this thread that I'm using AnalogLab in Sonar X3e 64 bit without major problems - I do put a brickwall limiter on the channel to protect my ears, though, because it sometimes goes crazy.

I have the SparkLE controller, and the Spark2 software in both the stand alone, and in X3e producer, both work fine.

Thanks to you all for your input.
I love the Lab 49 and have several of the soft synths loaded and all work fine, that's why the issue with Spark and their tech support reply through me a curve...

I'll try ditching the VST3 and see if the VST2 works.

John - is your Spark VST version 2 or 3?
If 3, have you loaded Spark as a synth track in Sonar X3e, launched it from within Sonar X3e, and it syncs fine with SparkLE?
And no issues controlling it with SparkLE?

Stand- alone works flawlessly, but Spark in Sonar can't see the SparkLE controller.

Let me try VST2 this evening to see if thats a good work-around.

Thanks again to you all for your feedback.

    Cheers,
    MG

So much for the VST3 vs VST2 -
for the VST option, Spark2 only has VST2.4 in the install... 32 bit and 64 bit.
    I installed the 64 bit VST2.4.

Like I mentioned - it works fine in stand-alone, but not inside Sonar X3e.

So John - What did you do to get Spark2 to recognize SparkLE controller from within Sonar X3e?

I'm curious since Arturia essentially just admitted that they know it doesn't work.

    Thanks,
    MG

I bought an Arturia MIDI controller that came with their Analog Lab software last year, I could never get their software to work with Sonar X3 so I ended up returning it (the hardware was broken too). The license is still sitting on my eLicenser rotting away.
Not a big fan of Arturia.

    Hey!

I've no idea why they would reply that. I'm running Spark 2 using the SparkLE-controller without problems. I'm using the VST2 versions. I'm running Windows 8.1 64 bit and Sonar 3 Producer. I have Platinum as well but cant try it since I uninstalled Platinum because I had to reinstall and after that I havent been able to install it since the Control center just keeps telling me its validating the Sonar files. Very irritating.

If you want more info from me just let me know. But SparkLE definitively working in Sonar X3e Pro.

    Here's some more info.

    Im running the following:
    Spark 2.1.0
    Build 426 (rev: 1c73643) 32 bit
    Controller Version: 1.0.0.3
    Build date: Dec 2014 10:38:18

Seems I run the 32 bit version. Maybe you should try that?

All known Arturia problems were addressed in the latest release of SONAR. If you are still having problems please report them. I am in touch with the Arturia developers.

That's great Noel, so there's no issues installing the vst3 64 bit versions now? At least known issues?

Good news indeed - I'll pull the unit out of cold storage and re-load the software.
