Arturia Updates and New Products
They have added Matrix 12 and Solina V. These are also included in the new V collection. There is a new software manager which seems like it will handle updates. It may not be much use to those that never put their DAW on line but if it works like NI's service centre in checking your version against the latest update I will appreciate that. the Matrix 12 could be interesting. I am not sure about the Solina, it seems to be well covered elsewhere and its not like the original had a huge variaty of sound.

Arturia release the V collection 4

Arturia have just released the V collection version 4 which has added their new Oberhiem Matrix v, Solian V strings, Spark 2 and the Vox V. They have also updated most of their soft synths and the licencing software. Looks like they have changed from the e-licener to their own system.

Thought this may as well be joined as it is the same subject Glynn hope you are OK with that. I am having a little prob with the matrix it seems to dislike my keyboard controller when used within Sonar it is not responding to note off's every time. OK when I have hand painted within Staff or PRV.

Well I got a very nice upgrade price, so just purchased this - busy finishing off download now. Really glad I didn't spend anything BF or CM! Main thing is that all my existing Arturia software had to be updated as well, so this has taken some time! The new authorization module is quite nice and pretty straightforward, of course with the usual Arturia / French idiosyncrasies! But all in all, very happy indeed with this V Collection and the new authorization method - I can now get rid of 4 (I think it is) dongles! Nigel

I got the email now with an upgrade pric. It would add Matrix 12 V, Solina V and the VOX Continental V for 149 Euros. I need to think about that one. Do I spend the money i saved by not upgrading Komplete this time around?? I will have to give the demos a try. I wonder is the Continental sufficiently different or better than the one in NI's Vintage Organs and does the Solina beat the one by Hollow Sun? I see Arturia have added the Polymoog Vox Humana patch to it,that is also in my Hollow Sun collection.

I did not have the V collection - just had about 6 of the individual synths - so I got the Matrix, Spark, Analogue Lab, Solina, Vox Continental and Wurlitzer for 169euros, which I thought was pretty good. Have to say, I am surprised at the Vox - thought it would be very similar to the free Martinac, but I do think it sounds much better - certainly looks better!!!! Nigel

Weird I first got an offer for the V4 at 169 Euros then later in the day it was offered for 99 Euros.

The matrix 12 demo was not working well with sonar. Vst2 was not detected and vst3 crashed sonar on all 3 tries. Sonar was not listed as a daw that they had tested their plugins with.

All the Arturia VST 3 versions don't work in Sonar ( and a few from other manufactures too).
For the original V collection I had to totally uninstall and reinstall VST 2 only to get it to work. I have yet to try the demos of the new products but I will not install VST3

If you go to %install drive%:\Program Files\Common Files\VST 3 and carefully rename the offending VST 3's then open SONAR it will rescan your VST's and delete the offending VST 3 and enable the VST 2 versions. Then when whomever is at fault with the VST 3 implementation solves the problem you can just rename them back. I find it most interesting that it is only my Arturia VST 3's that fail, even the free ones seem to work fine.

I have the V Collection 3, which I cheerfully got for $149 a few months back. LOVE it, even though I have to use VST2 versions of the synths. I myself do not see the value in getting this upgrade - not enough different stuff than what I already have with version 3. I have several Solina emulations already, that sound good enough to where I wouldn't use this new one. I think I will pass on this particular one. Bob Bone

I have been playing around with the demos. They are nice but at at 149 euros (half as much again as I paid for original V collection) I will pass because I have the ground covered quite well already. The Solina V seems suprisingly versatile and the presets offer a much broader pallet than I was expecting. This is helped by the addition of the Vox Humana sound and the resonators section, aided by effects. The dedicated effects do a beter job than the Kontakt effects utalised by Hollow Sun's string synths. Of course if you have some decent effects to drop into Sonar's FX bin/pro channel you can probably reproduce much of what is going on here. The Vox seems to sound a lot better than the freebee it originated form, I much prefer the Hammond sound and the Vox and Farfisa in NI's Vintage Organs or Hollow Sun's Vox are more than adiquate for my transistor organ needs. The Matrix 12 does not run well on the old laptop I am using for testing. I will give it another go when I am back home and can try it on my DAW. It appears to be a very nice synth, inbetween the crackles and pops it seems to have some very good presets and there is plenty of scope for editing.

Anyone experience problems with the new versions of the synths? The Solina for example starts crackling etc after a few seconds use. I don't usually suffer from dropouts. I have a powerful hexacore processor. But the Solina starts crackling like the computer is crawling on its knees. I'm using vst2 version. 64 bit.

I did notice a few problems and as i said the Matrix did not run well at all. But I was testing on a laptop that was not set up for audio and using the built in Realtech sound so I put it down to that.

Not noticed any crackling with the Solina. The Matrix suffers from not responding well to Note off in both standalone and plugin. Seems to work OK when used with a midi stream within SONAR. This problem has been reported to Arturia and has been escalated to the development depart by the support person I have been communicating with. I am surprised at the cost as I got the upgrade for £99 with some gentle shoving. Though I do own standalone licences for the Modular V, ARP 2600 V, CS 80 V and the Prophet V along with the V 3 collection licence. The SPARK 2 that comes with 4 is very different than the SPARK VDM that came with 3 as it would appear to have more of the SPARK kits not just the vintage drum machines, it has SPARK Factory, SPARK 2 Factory, SPARK Vintage, and some/part of the EDM and Hip Hop expansion packs.

Some, but not all, patches in Solina causing crackling here. Reducing the level of the convolution reverb mix helps to clear this up. Matrix causing big time CPU hits and lots of snap crackle and pop. These problems have been noted on the Arturia user's forums. Looks like Arturia may have rushed this update out a little too quick. Probably didn't want to miss the year end shopping season. The new software management app doesn't recognize all of my Arturia software. Also refuses to acknowledge that I have installed Spark. Spark is working fine.

I simply uninstalled the software and reinstalled just the VST2 and stand alone versions. On the old eLicencer system this did not require a reauthorisation. Of course that could be different now. Before you do that check if the VST2 DLLs are in a path that Sonar is scanning and then do a rescan.

I can imagine that the Matrix 12 would have a pretty heavy cpu load just to emulate the basic structure. Maybe this is what's causing the stuck note offs? just processing load? I'm still using very old sonar, but looking into Arturia and a computer update is looking intriguing. Anything but Kontakt is still my moto. Has anyone tried tweaking the midi set-up in Sonar to increase the midi buffers? Hell I don't even know if that's tweakable in the new Sonar X offerings.

Yes I have the V3 Collection as well as the V4 the installation basically overwrote the V3 install. In your case I would do as Bristol_Jonesy suggests remove them then using the new licencing tool reinstall making sure you, make a backup of any patches you have made then; a, uncheck the installs for the VST3 and any other formats you do not need. b, install them to a path you know. It does not take long I did it took about half an hour. As to the VST3 problem any other VST3's I have installed work fine it is only the Arturia VST3's that cause a problem. As it was explained to me it is down to implementation of the authorisation within SONAR that causes the problem though that did come from Arturia not Cakewalk.
