It solves a problem of not being able to switch audio driver to asio in sonar 5...I have an old desktop with sonar 5 i hooked back up but cant choose my driver. A search of the forum shows this was a common problem a few years back, though i can't recall having it.

Most likely that was a cmd file to change the driver mode in the registry. First, confirm the registry path where the value to be changed is located: Open a cmd prompt (admin). Right click start button and choose cmd prompt (admin) Then, you can use the query cmd like so: reg query "HKCU\Software\Cakewalk Music Software" /f Core /s You should see it list the location of the found value. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR\Platinum Core REG_DWORD 0x20 For SONAR 5 it may list something like: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR\5.0 Core REG_DWORD 0x29a Second, something like this should update it to ASIO: reg add "HKCU\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR\5.0" /t REG_DWORD /v Core /d 0x29a /f

Hmmm. As it turns out, I saved the zip file, too. The link above is not what you want, although it worked in 2007 . Tried to unzip it on this Win 10 machine, but Windows 'protected' my PC and wouldn't open it.

try using 7-zip (winzip, etc) to unzip it? (assuming you used windows built-in zip handling)

I saved this file years ago in case I ever needed it. I think I did use it on my last computer, but I don't need it on this machine; it just happened to be still residing in my Documents folder. Solocky, I don't think Cakewalk would have a problem with me sending it to you, but it is their property, so maybe one of them can chime in on my disseminating their file?

Solocky emailed me and said that it worked perfectly. Two clicks and it was done. Being a packrat does pay off on occasion. If you can find what you're looking for in the piles of files. So, if anyone else is working with ancient Cakewalk software like me and Solocky and need the ASIO utility, I have it. Best answer banner, please. And sorry for dredging up this old thread.
