Assign Bus for Audio Input from Yamaha MOX

Yamaha support tells me I need to "go to Sonar's bus assignment screen and assign stereo input left and right to MOX-3 and -4 (they'll be defaulted to MOX-1 and MOX-2). I successfully recorded MIDI from the MOX, so I know they are talking to each other, but don't see MOX-1, -2, -3 OR -4 and many attempts to record audio from the MOX have failed. Any help much appreciated.

Not bus, audio track. Assign your device as the input of an audio track.

John, we'll need some system specs here.
Especially your sound card/interface and Sonar version.
If Sonar is set to ASIO driver mode, additional audio devices will not be allowed or recognized.
The MOX has a built-in interface, so Sonar must use a driver mode that allows multiple interfaces(such as WDM or MME).
If the MOX is not available in the audio options, nothing else can happen, as far as audio.
MIDI is completely different.  It is not subject to driver mode. It is very low level, 8bit data, and can be easily brought in from many sources.
Tell us about your system, and we can go from there.

You're looking for interface inputs, not synth inputs. You've got the MOX analog outputs routed to your interface, right? What you see listed under the Input dropdown list depends on your interface, but you should be able to select a stereo pair and record audio from your synth that way.

But here's a tip: record your MOX via S/PDIF rather than analog for best quality and no noise. You should see S/PDIF inputs right below the audio inputs on the input sources dropdown listbox.

Hmm, wait a minute, it just occurred to me that you may only have a USB connection between synth and computer, and that may be the source of confusion. You can only record MIDI over the USB connection, not audio. For that, you need to run cables from the audio (or S/PDIF) outputs to the audio interface.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Seem it has a whole set of drivers for each OS and 32/64 bit so make sure you have installed the correct driver for your system first. Does not say anything about ASIO but if it's a 4x2 interface then might be all you need. Looks like a nice pice of gear and there no reason it will not work as listed, You just got to get through the set up part.
