we dont clip here, but it looks like everybodys in the red after 0 VU..

you are in the red much sooner than the VU or meter will tell you.
do not trust your meters,
unless you have those 'special' meters

THE ABOVE METER has a different weighting than the BELOW meter nice!  Beagle,, I notice you use the little battery operated clip on version of this meter, but this is the permanent console version  for those times you know the BS will be in the studio!!!

It seems like all these meters are being set to be peaking at Max.........is it generally the default setting?

 Not for all meters! (And I DO have a couple of the BS meters, but in respect to the TOS I won't post those. )

What I found out in the Past is that with digital and what I had at the time, if you get up to 105% - puts reversed 0 crossings and dips down to the opposite side. If it does that, it will wreck it, and there is no way to fix it.
Have to test it on your own with the meters.
