Audio Driver Prob, Tascam US-122

Using the demo version of Sonar 5 PE. Have a question. When I load it, a dialog box says
"Audio Driver Error
the following driver either does not support the current audio format or is in use with another program. Please choose whether you want to disable it or use it anyway"
and then it displays my audio driver "SigmaTa Audio"

I am using a Tascam US-122. What settings must I select to be able to playback my guitar recordings through the SigmaTa driver. I go to the OPtions>audio but am having problems...when i select the US-122 as the record one and SigmaTel as the playback, it still does not work. I had the same prob when i first got Music Creator, but i fixed it...it was so long ago i forgot how, tho. PLEASE HELP!!
PUT THIS THREAD ON SONAR, BUT I KNOW YOU GUYS MORE AND YOU HELP SOO MUCH, ESPECIALLY ROBOMUSIC!!! THANKS!!! BESIDES, IT KINDA RELATES TO MC CUZ I HAD A SIMILIAR EXPERIENCE IN THE PAST. IS SIGMATEL COMPATIBLE WITH SONAR 5 PE? IT IS WITH MC CUZ IT WORKS.

Others [Maybe even you] have had some success with selecting the option - "use only MME drivers." Actually, the Cakewalk forums are loaded with queries
from users who cannot hear Midi playback until they set the Music
Creator/Sonar Audio Options to use the MME interface. Or they get the error message.

Sigma Tel C-Major Audio apparently only runs in the MME interface rather than the newer WDM mode. [It will run, they say with ASIO - but not in Music Creator.]

Under Options | Audio | Advanced check the option to always use MME drivers(or MME next to Driver Mode) and then press Ok and restart Cakewalk. Next, select only your soundcard under Options | Audio | Drivers. Then, try it again.

Well Ebbnoggin, I would throw this out there, why would you want to record the guitar thru the sound Max, instead of the Tascam-122, it is a far better card/interface than the sound Max hands down, just ignore the sound max altogether, and run with the Tascam.

I'd Seize the day but i can't quite reach it!

    MillerBill -- THANKS! It worked!
    ...but

    Robomusic:
What is Sound MAx? Don't I have to run the playback through the SigmaTel soundcard? Is that why more recordings sound like crapola? Is there another way to play my playback that sounds good? Like I said, I'm recording using the Tascam US-122.

    THANKS!

Sound max is a built in sound chip like the sigma tel, i just named the wrong one. Yes the Tascam is a sound card/interface. You do not need the built in, just attach the USB cable and then setup MC to use the Tascam as both playback and record.
