Audio Drop Out/Interference

Hi - I'm using SONAR Professional with Miroslav Philharmonik virtual orchestra and am experiencing intermittent interference (crackling) and audio drop-out, especially when using large numbers of instruments in a project.  It's not my speaker connections as the interference is also present in the phones feed.  Anyone else experiencing this?  I'm wondering if it is anything to do with laptop memory.  Thanks.

You need to give more information, computer specs and audio interface, driver mode etc.

Could be memory, could be CPU, could be the driver...could be all three. Try increasing latency to see if that solves the problem.

Could be disk I/O too. Not enough info about the hardware and config to say. In the meanwhile, the solution may be found here http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=Troubleshooting.01.html

Thanks for the feedback.  I'm using a Lenovo laptop i7-6500U CPU @2.5GHz.  12GB memory, 64 bit OS. with a Focusrite scarlett2i audio interface.

+1 to this - increasing latency usually solves this.

If you're finding that an increased latency is sluggish for recording though, consider freezing the tracks you're not planning to edit further. This will reduce the CPU usage, although it might increase disk I/O.

Under mixing latency in Driver Settings, my buffer size is set to fast, 10.0 msec, 442 samples, effective latency at 44kHz.  There seems to be no way to alter these settings so can someone advise how to increase latency?  Thanks.
