Audio Editing Background Noises Out of Guitar Track When Guitar Is Not Playing in CSHS 7.0

Hi Everyone,
Inserted a Live Guitar Track in CSHS 7XL In about half a dozen places the guitar stops playing for a couple of seconds and then you can hear background noise. I wanted to run some kind of Remove Silence or Noise Reduction filter on the Guitar Track. I could not find any kind of plug in or noise filter in CSHS 7XL.

This surprised me, since its a very common audio edit. Does CSHS 7XL call this kind of edit something else? I figured an audio tool or plug in could do it more accurately than I could by cutting parts of the waveform so only the actual guitar playing is left.

Thanks

well, there is an FX to use for this, it's called a GATE.  look for it in your FX menu.

however, I would advise you to use envelopes instead for this type of noise.  just right click on the track and choose ENVELOPES>TRACK ENVELOPE>VOLUME.  then create nodes and bring the volume down to -inf for the areas between the guitar playing where the noise is and then back up to normal for when it is playing.

Or you could use the split tool and segregate those parts and delete them. Or click on the track, then drag the cursor across the timeline to select those parts and hit the computer keyboard's Delete key.
