Good to know there is a procedure to add in new tools applications. It's weird - I didn't have to do anything to get my wave editor to show up in the Utilities menu of X1. Actually I am wondering how to delete some of the files that show up in my list. Does anyone know how to delete programs from the Utilities list?

Does anyone know how to delete programs from the Utilities list? They're just registry keys, so they can be deleted there. Look in HKLM\Software\cakewalk music software\tools menu.

Ok been there done that just for the hell of it I installed X1 32 bit on a clean backup and IT WORKS so I have no idea apart from the fact that it could possibly be that it is a 64 bit problem???? as per articles I did EXACTLY as stated and had two reg entries one in the 6432 cakewalk folder the other just under cakewalk in the folder as per instructions (got a feeling I am going slightly mad as it doesn't matter which audio editor I choose the outcome is the same %^*^%$£* Win7 64 Intel I5 760 16 gig ram etc etc

Ok, so where is the "tools" menu in X1 Producer? It might be right in front of me, but I didn't see where these options would show up. It would be very handy from within X1 to do a file edit using Adobe Audition.

Just completed the menu mod. This works great! Cake should make this a simple path update in the preferences menu. Thanks for a great tip!

Tools is now called Utilities in X1. Must be another one of those "workflow enhancements".

i had this working last year under XP and SONAR 8.5, i remember cursing out those instruction on Cakewalks site because they explained 99% of what i had to do, but didnt go the extra 1%, i was under the impression back then that SONAR would launch Sound Forge for me with the clip opened in it if i remember right you had to have Sound Forge open already for this to work in SONAR, is that correct? now on my new machine, i cant make it happen i have 32-bit Win 7 and SONAR Producer X1b, Sound Forge Pro shows under the Utilities menu, the path to Forge100.exe is correct in the registry, so what am i doing wrong please? plus do i need SONAR to share drivers to make this work?, when i open SONAR and then SF i get a message about ASIO drivers already in use, so i tell SONAR to share drivers and try again but it still doesnt work this is what i am doing 1. i open SONAR 2. i open SF 3. i have a project in SONAR that has imported a WAV file 4. i select the clip on the audio track (i assume that when the clip turns black its selected right?) 5. i go to the Utilities menu, the Sound Forge Pro menu item is enabled 6. i click on Sound Forge Pro and nothing happens in SF 7. the Sound Forge Pro menu item under Utilities is now disabled 8. i swear loudly and my wife tells me to watch my mouth 9. i have a beer and say f*ck this sh** so besides the swearing and the cheap beer, please somebody tell me, what the hell am i doing wrong here? ps... i noticed in the registry that there is a path to the SF help file, whats the purpose of that? pss... @Scott, just got the SONAR X1 Power book, love it man, great work!

i'm not gonna get any sleep tonight please a couple more questions on this: 1. At the Cakewalk Product Support page linked above, in the instructions, it says in step 17... "In the Value Data field, type in an "&" followed by the name of the application. For example: &Sound Forge" for the MenuText string value, these registry items were added for me when i installed SONAR, do i need to add the "&" now? 2. is the StatusBarText string value in the registry useless for SONAR X1?, i dont see a status bar in X1 thanks again

OK got it sorted it appears that X1 doesn't like "type" in reg key as WaveEditor changed key value to Type Generic and it works ?? Go Figure

WaveEditor works fine for type here. Always has. My specs are below.

The ampersand character precedes the keyboard shortcut character. So if you enter it as "&Sound Forge", it will show up on the menu as "Sound Forge" and you'd press "S" to select it. If you already have some "S"s in the menu, you could alternatively put it in as "Sound &Forge", changing the shortcut/underlined character to "F", e.g. "Sound Forge". If the string contains an actual ampersand, you indicate that by putting in two ampersands, e.g. "This && That" becomes "This & That".

Tweakberry pss... @Scott, just got the SONAR X1 Power book, love it man, great work! Thanks very much, Brad! I appreciate your support and I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the book. Scott PS. You shouldn't need to have Sound Forge open already for this to work. -- Scott R. thanks for the suggestions, ive made some progress with this, but even so im ready to ditch this shortcut from my Utilities menu and do it the long way, heres whats happening... 1. I changed the string value for 'Type' from 'WaveEditor' to 'Generic' 2. SONAR now launches Sound Forge, but the clip selected in SONAR isnt opened in SF 3. When i go back to the registry the string value for 'Type' is set back to 'WaveEditor' again 4. Im right back where i started, nothing happens at all again if anyone has any ideas i would be thankful, otherwise this Utilites shortcut is history, ide rather it not be there at all than non-working

i'm having the exact problem, tb. have you solved it yet? i've pulled practically all my hair out trying to figure this one out. SF 7 worked fine when i installed x1d producer, but after upgrading to SF9 the SF9 editor would open the wave file, but any muting i do, mutes the entire clip when returning to x1d. wtf, right? so i put SF7 back in the utls menu and now the editor opens, but no clip to edit. SF9 mutes all. two weeks have gone by and still nothing.
