The audio engine is a random subroutine that CW put in there to make you think the software is doing something. It really doesn't do much of anything. But if you want your engine to run better, a new set of spark plugs, a new PCV valve and airfilter does wonders.

Hey there Bill - I see our lovable forum troll Pete has introduced himself to you. You should be honoured though, after nigh on 21 months of complete and utter drivel from him, his reply to you is just about the most helpful, and humorous I can ever remember! I must admit, I don't fully understand what the audio engine does exaclty though - I've never 'used' it for anything as far as I can remember

steve i added a picture up at the top of this thread. Have a look to check if i'm describing the right thing. I can hear fine when the light is clicked off but in GTP2 It wasn't a problem.

Yeah, I saw the image Bill - I've never noticed it on my GT3 mate, but it does seem very strange though. It might be worth seeing if Doc or one of the other 'tech' guys has experienced this or has an understanding of what is actually going on though. typo

I have playback and can hear what I play so it's only an annoyance. Steve did you get the mp3 the other nite? The last thing you said was there was a problem with the download. We were both too tired to function. The time got away from me.

its the frame for the lyrics. it needs to evolve but with bass the basics will be in place and i can go from there. Thanks for helping me out . The tempo was 86 on the keyboard but it wasn't quite in sync with the rhythm of GTP3. The clicks are from the keyboard.

Bill, can you send me the chords after all. I think I can follow the root notes by ear OK but knowing the chords might let me add a bit more variation.

well I not sure I can after all the radiation treatment. My voice gives out very easily now but It may be due to such a long layoff also. I have a scanner and can write out a cord chart if you like or post the chord progression here. which would you prefer?

When you say you are getting a delay when the audio engine is on is that a delay in what you play and what you hear coming through GTP3?

the delay is on the meter only. I can hear sound through the computer speakers. When the button is off(unlit) there is no reading in the metter.

Durring pl;ayback you will need to have the audio engine running. This is normal for audio. The lag timne in the display may be due to how the video is routed in your computer. If it is on the main board chances are the lag time or visual latency is due to shared CPU time and memory usage. The visual ques can be imnproved through optimization of the PC and the usage of an external audio card and a dedicated video card.

Hi there Bill Bit of a long shot this but worth checking none the less. Right click on any meter in the Mix View of a project and choose this path: All Meters>Playback Meter Options Make sure Post-Fader is selected instead of Pre-Fader.

Yeah I guessed as much mate, just a long shot - the meters look a bit 'different' to me when pre-fader is set. BTW, I've had quite a few runs through the choon with the bass Bill - I'll record something pretty soon and see what you think. It sounds best to me played really low and with a lot of deep bass - it keeps away from the same territory EQ-wise as the chords you're playing near the nut. Steve

After hearing the recording I realized there was too much bass in the low end. when I record it again I when have a different EQ. I need to re-do all of it. I have the vocals next to record. after that I'll start rebuilding the song. The drums are sloppy but i was playing around . Did you put any guitar in? Do anything you like with it. Most of all have fun!

I've not tried guitar yet mate - I must admit, even though I studied a little music at school, I play lead stuff mostly by ear. That's fine with most of the stuff I play, playing power chords the lead parts imply the chords to some extent and also the key. I need to study more when it comes to 'real' chords I guess!
