Audio FX, parallel input

Hi.
As old dub head, I am used to have the following constellation:
The sounds of an instrument are usually "dry" in my track. Now I wish that once in a while the sounds do to a heavy delay (for example) for one beat, but the delay shall sound on while the instrument plays on "dry", so the delay sounds mix with the dry instrument.
When I use any effects "input", the entire instrument sound will be dimmed and will only have usual volume when I have the effect. But I do not wish to have the instrument muted when there is no effect.
In Audio Mulch I can insert in the sound flow an additional bus parallel to the dry signal, and when I open the bus it will send the signal to the FX (delay, reverb, or whatsoever), so the sounds from that FX will sound on while the dry signal goes on unchanged.
How, please, can I construct such a chain in Sonar? The FX chain in Sonar has the same unwanted effect on the instrument sound as if I was only using the input knob of the FX in Sonar.
I am sure in Sonar there are better options that get me to the sound I wish to create.
Thankx for updating me.

sounds like you want a send/aux track with the fx on it? then set a send out to that on your instrument track and play with the send amount (at least, this is how i do the dubby delay stuff :-))
there's some kind of wizard available too https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR%20X3&language=3&help=Mixing.13.html

+1 on the suggestion, and on the typographical humor. There are actually many ways to do this. For example, with what pwalpwal suggests you can use automation to send only a particular sound to the track with the effect (which would be set to "wet" only).

Another option is to create another track, split the section you want to process, and shift+drag it to the new track and place the effect in that track.

Then there's always buses and automation...

Pre-fader sends can be very useful in this situation as well, they allow an effect on the linked aux channel to operate completely independendently of the audio tracks fader. Again, automate stuff as required.

Sonar Platinum 64bit, Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit, I7 3770K Ivybridge, 16GB Ram, Gigabyte Z77-D3H m/board,
ATI 7750 graphics+ 1GB RAM, 2xIntel 520 series 220GB SSDs, 1 TB Samsung F3 + 1 TB WD HDDs, Seasonic fanless 460W psu, RME Fireface UFX, Focusrite Octopre.
Assorted real synths, guitars, mandolins, diatonic accordions, percussion, fx and other stuff.

Must come back to this one again, as I keep struggeling where Sonar does write the automation data of the effects. I can't find those automation tracks. The thing is, you record the automation data, but in some cases you wish to edit those (been too late with the knob, or too much in-/output etc.), but I can't find them. I'd have supposed the automation data is written beneath a track with the name of the send.... I am doing something wrong, it seems.

Yes, its in the automation lane.
you can open the lane and manually tweak and  edit.

Thankx, Mr. KingsMix:
Yes I thought so, but I can't find it in the mix...
Ok, the construction is: From the MIDI track I have the instrument track with some AudioFX. Then I have a SEND for short time FX (like a delay that switches in like in good old dub music.) Now I am looking for that automation lane for that FX in the send.
One more issue in this thread: Is there a VST-bridge in Sonar, enabling 32-bit plugins in a 64-bit surrounding, please? And if not, any recommendations?
Seems in my mix, I may not use one delay plugin in multiple instances. There is a fine bluetube delay I'd wish for the rhythm guitar, but I'd love to use the same for the horn section, but (naturally) independently from the guitar.

I am not sure of your questions here.
You can choose what you want the added automation lane to control by clicking the arrow next to the name of the lane and it will give you a drop down menu where you can choose what you want to automate. When you add a new automation lane it is going to give you a random control assignment but you select what you want it to control from the drop down menu by clicking on the arrow like I've described.
For the two instances that you want to use the same delay, just add an automation lane to the horn section track and another one to the guitar track, they will be independent even when using the same delay using on/off automation.
If this is not what you are asking, maybe you can post a screenshot and explain what it is you are trying to do.

Thankx, of course I can add any automation lane.
Here I have an image of 2 screenshots. You see I inserted BluTube Vintage Oilcan Echo for the horns, in the upper image. You see I activated recording automation. (I was successful at recording automation in this instance.)
In the lower picture you see where I'd have supposed to see the automation lanes for the BlueTube Echo. But thy aren't there. I cannot locate them.
By the way, when I tried to record the automation data a second time, Sonar crashed, I could not save the new data :-\

Here I try again, it seems, the web site designer dislikes screenshots. I cannot upload it directly, but placing a link doesn't seem to work either.
But try right-click on the icon, choose "open in new tab". For me, that works. Or do I need to have another place to upload images? I am using "Google photos"...
Otherwise try the link I pasted in beneath that icon.
I appreciate you are following up.

You need to click the + sign next to the HrnsDlySnd, this will allow you to add another automation lane, and from the added automation lane click the arrow next to the new automation lane and choose whatever Blue Tube Echo Parameter you wish to automate.
The key is the (+) sign.

Thanks again,
that is what I had been trying to do. You see in the lower picture, I only get automatisation referring to the send, but not to the FX I had placed in that send. I just tried again right now. Sorry.
But after going through the mix again and again, I got all the preset changes recorded, before Sonar crashed again for unknown reason, and without preparing another error message file. (And I even had installed the new update today before resuming my work.)

Try looking for what you want to automate in the automation lane on the "bus" where you actually have the FX.

To get an automation lane, I should have the bus in the track list, right? I do not see it there, only in the mixing desk view. There, I do not seem to find any opportunity to add an automation lane. Please see the lower  one of my 2 images I posted earlier. I see the bus send in the track list, but the automation lanes there do not refer to the FX I activated in the send / bus.
Sorry, I must be a harrass not to grasp what you are trying to tell me.

Look at where I circled in yellow on the lower screenshot picture.
Click on that and it will show you your Busses and Auxes in Track view, and you will be able to open automation lanes for your FX Auxes / Busses etc.

Now the last question in this thread (I think it perfectly fits in this thread):
Any suggestion for a reliable VST-bridge, allowing me to run 32-bit VSt-FX in Sonar?
And also a few hints how to install (which folder), and use  them?
Please.

You should probably start a new thread with the appropriate title to get more rapid response to your last question.
