I have a lite version of it which came free w/ my audio editor but I never bothered to try it. I thinks it's like a modular fx/patch builder/processor, particularly useful for sound design.

Audio Midi's web site is as messed up as it gets. They have all those sub-sites set up for promotions to enable paypal as a payment method which tend to remain on line. I've also had to provide them w/ my entire info and register twice in the last year alone.

BUT there are some very helpful fellows working there which will go way beyond duty to get things sorted out for you if you ever need assistance.

This was the link I got. Right, it is $20. Is it worth $20? I write smooth jazz, r&b, pop, christian, and country. I don't think I could find a use for this, but you never know.....

I have this and have had it a very long time - I still use it regularly.
Good for delays and various other effects  and a bargain at $20. honestly for this amount of money I would snap this up ASAP!!

As no x64 and apparently not in near future either, I say: Nah...

Why does it have to be 64bit?
It doesn't require large amounts of RAM and as long as it works ok with bitbridge there's no problem.
64bit really isn't a big deal unless you need a lot of RAM.

    that I couldn't live without....

I'm tapped out till next week...so the timing on this is good (for me) LOL

Because the crashes that have happened have been caused by 32bit vst's and bitbridge. Don't use them no more. No more crashes.

This almost made me decide against picking it up as well ... hard as it is for me to resist any unique plug that's available at an 87% discount.

But I downloaded the manual and read about half of it.  There is some seriously brilliant inovation in this thing.  Even if I never used it for anything other than playing around with on a rainy day ... well, let's just say my wallet just got 20 bucks lighter.

I don't think the product web page does a very good job of presenting just what this thing is and does.  But a quick read of twenty or so pages of the documentation (maybe about a third of the total pages) should give anyone a decent idea.

You're right. This is a pretty impressive piece of programming. I can see that it might not be for everybody, though. The kind of person who'd "get" this effect is the type who prefers programming synthesizers from scratch over just scrolling through the presets. But even the laziest preset monkey should still have fun with it. It's got a lot of presets!

I would definitely buy this, but I've already blown my discretionary budget for this month on a $12 sample library of cinematic plastic bottles.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Yes, I watched that video, but for me it didn't explain anything ... other than this guy uses it for things I'd never be interested in doing.  Seriously, I think the only way you'd get a sense of what this software is all about is to make a quick scan of the manual.  Not all of it, but maybe the first twenty pages after the installation instructions.  Just download the manual.  They make it really easy to find on the SFX Machine Pro web page.

Just an opinion, worth no more or maybe less than the next opinion.
Did not float my boat. Some useful stuff and a ton of presets that will never be used. Quality effects are there but in this market, I can't find anything higher quality than what's in the sea of freeware aps, with a lot less hassle fine tuning..
Seems more geared to hard core tweakers. I'm the biggest offender.

Always chasing the ultimate sound config.
Realized many years ago the energy spent in my tech trek toward sonic perfection was a cop out. Disguised the creative poverty in my case. Chasing the sound was a false front to ultimately avoid doing the sound.

    Best,

    John

it is a modular effects rack.  Just picked it up.  Anyone will have many of the effects, but it is a nice, convenient package.  Plus there are a few things many won't have - envelope follower, granular effect, etc. etc.

I tried a telephone/distortion effect on vocals - it worked very nice (along w/ a bunch of other stuff like comps - the SFX machine doesn't really have one of those that I've found).

For twenty bucks it is worth having.  Hundreds of presets that you can muck around w/.  I haven't yet gotten to the point of starting from scratch.  I guess it is time to read the manual.

Bit hit the nail on the head when he said it was the kind of plug-in that would probably appeal to the kind of guys who like to program synths from scratch.
