Audio Track Info in Sonar X1 Studio

As a person brand new to Sonar, I'm confused.  I am not getting INPUT or OUTPUT choices when I expand a track box.  Therefore, I can't get my Saffire 6 USB interface to be the input for the track.  For the life of me, I can't find a way to control input.

Help.

kd, on the upper right hand corner of the track headers you'll see a white drop down box. Click that and choose 'All' that will show everything in the track header. You can customize that as well  but for now that should show everything.

Hey, thanks, I certainly appreciate the info, but that only partly helped.  The drop down box "All" didn't make everything show.  I had to select I/O to get that control to pop up.  But when I arm the track, I'm getting a drum loop from track 1 even though I'm working with track 4.

Are you in the inspector? That's the channel strip on the left - or are you in a single track? Make sure you're selecting the proper track by clicking on the little number or selecting the track header - in the TRACK VIEW - not the inspector. The inspector should show you all the parameters of the track but only if you select it properly in track view.

My mistake, Larry.  Part of the track box was not showing.  I expanded it so that the ALL shows all.

Nice. Here's a trick. If you right click the track header and go down to 'extras' you can lock that track height as the default track height.

I can't find that, Larry.  But why do I get no volume reading in the track even though I have it set for the Saffire left channel (channel one).  The mic is live as attested to by my headphones and the arm button is pressed.

No way track that down from here kd. Whenever I run into those challenges, which is pretty often because I'm always experimenting and learning, I just start thrashing and trying every setting until I get it to work. There are others that have the Saffire that may be able to help you but I got nuthin from here.

Arm the track for recording. You should see some level then.

if its not set in the preference menu then you need to click on input echo to hear it..if you got a signal and your routing is correct..just click the input echo button next to the record button.i got the saffire 6 as well.let me know how your vocals turn out..i have a problem balancing the mix to hear myself load enough.
