Audio Track Won't Split - Sort of Solved
I have a rhythm guitar track that I want to reuse for multiple verses, so I'm trying to cut it into a one-verse length suitable for copying and pasting. But when I position my cursor at the place where I need to split the clip and press "S," nothing happens. There is no split. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong? [EDIT: History shows "Undo Split Clip," so something is happening, but my clip is NOT being split at the Now time.] In case this is a clue, in the same project when I drop a MIDI drum loop at measure zero, it appears at measure 71 instead.
All my other projects have been working normally. This is just a sketch of something I might develop in the future, so it's no biggie if I never get it working right, but I thought maybe someone could help me solve this in case it happens some day on a "serious" project. Thanks for reading!

If it were me, I would look at the properties for the clip in question to determine the file. Then I would copy the and import into another, clean project to see if I could at least get the clip I want salvaged. Root cause? Beats the heck outa me ... sorry

Thanks Bob. I don't really have to salvage anything. I could easily just play the part again, all the way through. The root cause is kind of what I'm interested in here. Appreciate your suggestion.

Be sure the clip is highlighted first, then place your cursor where you want it and hit S. Or, place the cursor near the bottom of the clip, hold the alt button and the cursor will change to scissors and clip where you want. If these don't work, make sure you are splitting at a zero crossing point.

Lynn - Clip highlighted. "S" doesn't work; right-click|Split... doesn't work; Alt|Scissors|Click doesn't work. But each time I try to split the clip, another "Split" is added to the undo history... I tried five or six splits at random locations along the clip in case I was trying to split at a non-zero crossing point, but got the same (lack of) result every time.

This happened to me also. I closed the program and restarted Sonar and it acted normally. I could split clips as usual. Not sure why that happened, but that seem to correct this issue.

Larry I have seen similar when working with stuff taken from my looper. I can bring it in but sometimes it seems to not be where everything thinks it is. I just use it as a performance reference for recording the the more lavish domain of Sonar. Is anything like that involved? If so I have never bothered to figure it out because it works for when I need to hear that great little bit I had such high hopes of. I get wav files out of the looper but I suspect not all wavs are the same, just as in the ocean. Some waves know more than others. It stands to reason that some information might not be used by an application that creates it, but leaves garbage in information data keys. My cheap china looper is likely got an offset wrong, that works just fine for it. Cheers. I really just needed to see if my signature was in place.

Wolfstudio53 - That worked. Still don't know what caused this, but closing and opening Sonar made it possible to split my clip where I want. Also, the problem of MIDI drum clips appearing way the heck down the timeline from where I dropped them is "fixed." Thanks!

Notscruffy2 - I don't see your signature. Click on User Control Panel at the top of this window, then select Signature and Comment from the menu at the left. After you type in a sig, don't forget to Save. And thanks for trying to help. As you can see (above) Wolfstudio53 showed me a workaround.
