Audio WAV keeps moving out of sync!!!

When I record a vocal the wav file at first lines up when I press the space bar (stop) it renders to a difference place on the grid and wont sync up to where I first started voicing. Does anyone have a solution to this quite upset about this actually.

I just purchased Platinum and I have noticed that it renders slowly and seems a bit jerky I'm sure they are some fixes for this...well i'm hoping.

I am looking for the link to update to Everett I cant see where to press on the link to down load the update? There is a link to the list of fixes through the update but am not able to locate the update itself. Could you provide a link to it.

    Thanks

Lets hope this works its taken me all day to download this software why can't they ever make there updates and installation straightforward I really not in favour of these so called new improvements. It's really of putting and difficult. This may be my last upgrade I will definitely check out the competition after today. Thing is me and Sonar have come along way sad day. Hopefully if this version of Sonar works well we will see, but its not been a good start at all!

Sounds like maybe you're getting over-compensation for record latency. You should be using ASIO drivers, and you can test the actual round-trip latency (RTL) using the free CEntrance ASIO Latency Test Utility (Google it). Then enter a Manual Offset under Preferences Audio > Sync and Caching:

Manual Offset (in samples) = CEntrance Measured RTL - SONAR Reported RTL

This is always necessary for any audio interfacre because the latency reported by the driver to SONAR is never right on. But the error will generally be less than a millisecond and not really noticeable as a sync error so something else may be going on.

In any case, SONAR is not now - and never has been - 'rubbish'. You just need to get your hardware and SONAR configured correctly. I think you've been around long enough to know this.

If you continue to have trouble, just tell us exactly what you have configured for what hardware, how you're monitoring, and how big the sync error is and in which direction - i.e. are new recordings early or late relative to SONAR's audio metronome.

If you're finding that audio is laid down a whole measure late, you may be running into an issue with the metronome count-in that seems to affect some interfaces/systems. If that's the case, try disabling count-in and see if it makes a difference.

The reason why you're not getting much help is because I don't recall anyone posting about this type of problem before, so no one can say "Yes, I had the exact same problem and I fixed it by..."

The good news is there is something in your system that is weird, or some interaction with SONAR that is weird. The bad news is trying to track this down. Once you do, then SONAR will work. If you can provide more data about your system perhaps that will provide some clues as to what could be wrong.

When you do a new purchase of Sonar wouldn't the download be for the most up to date version? I'd like to know for certain just from the point of view of advising others.

If you have more than one audio interface (WDM), make sure the playback and recording timing masters are actually set to the card you are recording/playing-back on.  What audio interface are you using?  Are you running the WDM or ASIO drivers in Sonar?  We need a bit more data to help you.

Also, if Platinum has reused the aud.ini file from a previous install, it may be worth deleting it and allowing Sonar to recreate it cleanly.

Im using an intel core i3 DDR 3 1TB sound Card: Saffire PRO 24 DSP
Yes I have been around for a long time and have never had this problem with Sonar usually my Sonar/s have no issues. Craig I have read other post here concluding that they are having the same problem. The advice they were given was to install Everett. I believe that comes with the new install of Sonar. I will have a look in the settings and see what is wrong. Hope you can understand why I am mad as I was recording vocals then not even a 3rd way through the song I started to have this issue. Infact it happened whilst Dim Pro was loaded but I still cannot see Dim Pro in my VST listings.

I was happy with X2 then this SMH it just made me think why did I bother down loading this very good app :)

I deleted the audio track that I was having problems with then made a new audio track cut and pasted the vocal into the the new one that seems to work how ever when I record an audio wav I wait a second or so before I hit the space bar. I feel like I've gone back to the early eighties. Its definitely not fluid this Platinum is it?

just as a side issue I previously bought sonar X1 I had no issues and still record in it no problems I also bought X2 producer excellent again and I stuck with it...its still a gem. I have not had to frequent these forums for a few years but platinum has me skipping hopping and jumping back into the forums. you all are lovely patient people I really hate technology getting in the way of my creativity.i would be embarrassed if this sort of thing happened infront of people I mean how long has platinum been out for now. I am never the first to buy a Sonar product I wait along time first then jump in as I cant be asked with fiddling about when I have more important things to do especiallywhen the creatives juices are bubbling up inside me and I have to grab my keyboard my mouse and my DAW and make a master piece but Sonar says no not today give it a rest I am not in no mood to help then I respond I paid my hard earned money I had to explain to answer to my manager and let them know how enthused I am for working for the company. This is my time to be the musical boss...Sonar says no!

That's all expected behavior, except that changing to Internal fixed anything. "Internal" refers to the PC system clock, and is only suitable for pure MIDI projects using hardware synths that aren't input-monitored with no other audio in the project, including SONAR's audio metronome. If there's any audio in the project, the clock is automatically going to revert to Audio.

The move to Platinum was as transparent to most of us as any other upgrade. There will always be a handful of users that encounter problems with any software upgrade due to environment-specific conditions. It appears you are one of the chosen few this time around.

The first thing I would suggest without having any more detail on the issue is to try renaming your AUD.INI file, and letting Platinum build a new one at startup.

Am I missing something? The OP says that audio "keeps moving out of synch." His description seems to indicate that it only moves out of synch one time, at the end of the recording.
The symptom is different if what is happening is that:
1.the entire audio track shifts ahead or backward along the timeline (the direction of the shift is important), without changing the relative note to note relationship,
    than if
2.the track timing drifts continually from a steady beat.

    1. Suggests delay compensation error, which may be quite long if a plugin is reporting a long delay.
    2. Suggests a clocking issue.

For the Dim Pro and Rapture issue try a full reset and rescan of plugins:

The knowledge base article was written for X3, but is still applicable to the current release.

Yes I believe it was a timing issue and a latency one too! Seems to be working now I deleted the audio track and made a new one put the WAV back into it and tried recording. It worked but it was a bit touch and go however I changed my settings and upped the latency. So it seems to be OK not a fix but working.

I'll second the suggestion to let Sonar recreate the AUD.INI file. Just move the original someplace safe after you shutdown Sonar, then restart. If it does not make any improvements, you can always put the old one back.

Make sure to disable any "look ahead" plug ins while tracking.
I bypass ALL my effects while tracking.

And do run the audio loopback test. Your audio drivers would be to blame if the timing offset goes off. Make sure your drivers are up to date etc.
Also check for DPCL issues. Background processes can also bring a stable system to it's knees.
Example, I installed Dropbox the other day so I could share files... bad move. Even with internet disabled it was spiking DPCL big time.
