Audio error in ableton with Apollo Twin USB

Hi all! I'm on here on behalf of my boyfriend who has
Windows 10, 64bit
Maschine 64bit
Ableton Live (the newst one)
and using Apollo Twin USB

Here is the issue: when we are trying to open the audio input/output in ableton preferences, a error message: failed to open the audio device line keeps appearing. I got in contact woth UAD and the last suggestion was to that the USB 3.0 port was not compatible with apollo. So we purchased the Intaeck 3/0 card PCIe card, installed it no still have the same problem.

Looks like the card is very sensitive to the type of usb port - and really wants to be connected to a port on the motherboard. According to UA it is not "extensively tested" with ports on an expansion slot.
Are you sure you're using a usb 3 cable, less than 6 feet in length?
I think it may be worth shopping for a better cable and trying the original usb ports.
Do you have access to another computer where you could install and test the interface?

According to UA it is not "extensively tested" with ports on an expansion slot. The card is what the UA rep suggested we get since the motherboard port was not working. he checked the spec is the computer and all.
Are you sure you're using a usb 3 cable, less than 6 feet in length? YES, we are using the cord that came with the Apollo
