Audio output sounds like an old vinyl Record after reinstall

I just had to reset my laptop back to factory restore settings due to a missing vidio system file.
I'm reloading programs & just reloaded Sonar X1.
Once installed I imported an audio clip into an audio track and when
I play it it sounds all crackaly like an old vinyl record!
If i play the same audio clip in Windows media player it sounds just FINE!
I have tryed different clips & even tried to reinstall X1 3 time with the same results.
All other audio on the comp. sounds just fine.

I would appriciate any input or help with this problem!

Thanks:

Use ASIO drivers if at all possible. If not, try the WDM drivers, and give it a bit more buffer time.
