Audio track issue.
My first time recording an audio track ( Guitar ) Everything SEEMS to be fine, except that there is no sound coming from the track. The track meter lights up and goes up and down, which means, if I am not mistaken, that is is receiving the guitar info. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Gerry

I think we're gonna need way more information, but first, make sure your sound cards outputs are set to receive signal, and the volume is turned up on all the physical hardware. Make sure that in CbB, you have your outputs routed correctly, with none of them muted, inadvertently. After that, there are too many possible scenarios. You may have to provide more info on your setup, including what ur soundcard is.

Make sure your track output is routed to the Master bus, then that the Master bus is routed to your soundcard?

Win-7 Professionalx64. CWBL, SONAR X3e, & most other previous versions. TASCAM US-1800 audio interface. A bunch of outboard stuff that never gets used anymore (ADAT boat anchors, smoooth LA4 comps (miss them!), etc.) Way too many instruments.

Click the input echo button on the track.
StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen. I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

You certainly don't want to do that unless you have a low round trip latency system. But if the OP doesn't have an interface with direct monitoring then ya. The OP have given zero information about their set up. Answers can only be guessing until they come forth with an explanation of what they are using in the way of an audio interface, drive mode etc.

It seems that the track sound only comes out when I connect my speakers to the audio interface. And even then, it is not the best. Help. Thank you.

Sorry this still is insufficient information to even suggest an answer. Describe your entire input chain from guitar into Sonar and also your monitoring chain coming out of Sonar What equipment is being used and how is each piece connected

The more you look at this statement the more you wonder? I want everyone to read it 3 x and see if you come to the same conclusion. Gerry, we are really very helpful around here , but this is only when you feed us as many details as possible about your set up. Far as I can tell you could be using a 4 track Cassette porta studio.

Here is the info required. Guitar connected to PreSonus Audio Box USB Audio Box connected to computer. Track input to Audio Box USB Track output to Master Master routed to computer sound card. I noticed however that when I turned the Input Echo ON, as suggested by someone, the sound was coming out if the speakers as should be but I had noticeable latency. Hope this clarifies things. Thank you By the Cactus this is my first crack at audio. Have not had a problem of this natu re with Midi.

Awesome, this helps Master routed to computer sound card. Are you meaning to say your computers sound card or to your Audio interface. You should be using your audio interface for monitoring while recording. the sound was coming out if the speakers as should be but I had noticeable latency.Yes this is why you should use the direct monitoring of your interface. Then there will be no latency. Round trip latency is the sum of all your system and on most lower end interfaces is going to be to high to allow for in put echo monitoring. You problem might be you just have not set up your audio interface properly. The basics are 1- Always use the latest ASIO driver for your audio interface. 2- To start with use a medium buffer setting of 128-256. 3- Always use the audio interface main outputs to your studio monitors. If you don't own proper monitors you will need to use headphones or the headphone jack of the interface to drive your computer speakers. 4- Master buss should be set to your audio interface 1/2 output.

Thank you Johnny V. I went through your process and the following is happening: A) for one reason or other, my sound card, Realtek Audio, does not operate under ASIO only MME. So I do not know if this could be part of my problem. B) again, I do not know why, but the Master buss seems to be locked in to the computer sound card. I cannot bring up a menu that would show me the various options to change it to the audio interface. C) my buffer was set at 30msec. I have now changed it to 200msec. I this OK? You see, I am a retired vet trying to have fun. I know certain things but am not as advanced or savvy as some of you guys, so I appreciate all that you are doing to help me. Thank you again. Gerry

Why are you attempting to use the onboard Realtek? You should be using the Presonus exclusively Go to Preferences > Audio > Devices. What's listed there?

Thank you Jonesey. Like I said earlier, this is my first try at audio. As I had never used audio, I was always using the sound card only. Now I will try and record the audio track and come back if I have any other issues. Thank you.

Make sure you don't have a punch-in/out region active. I had that happen once and lost a day trying to figure out why recording was broken. Edit. Doh. Didn't read the question right. Not going to delete my post though because it may save someone else some headaches.

I know a lot of people, myself included, have disabled and uninstalled any onboard sounds/software/drivers and use their interface for everything - Windows sounds, Media players etc
