Audio transpose has stopped working
I haven't used it for a while, but I used to be able to transpose an audio track by using "Process " > "transpose" and specifying the alogarithm and the number of steps. If I do this now, the status bar stays "mixing down audio." When it finishes, the track goes blank, but no new waveform is ever drawn, and the track is silent. The only way to get it back is to use the undo function . Anyone have any ideas what's going on?

Had this problem a week ago and fixed it. Here's how. I bounced all the project to clips: Ctrl-A clips, bounce to clips. Go play outside for a while. Come back when it's all done and try again. I needed to try a wholesale modulation from G to A on the band and singer to see how it felt and had the exact same problem.

Hmmm...I tried to transpose something recently and nothing happened, no "mixing down audio" or anything. I didn't have time to test further so I used Melodyne instead. I'll try again and if it doesn't work, file a report.

If I select more than 1 clip in over more that one track that happens. - nothing.

What's the quality like when you translate all the audio a whole step up or down?

Acoustic guitars sounded clean but stretched tight and had to be retracked. Clean electric licks and bass fared well enough to be believed and left alone. Did the Vox with Melodyne Essential as it works best. Piano was midi.

WOW you guys just had me scared there for a moment ...In truth ,this is not something I normally do with my audio . I just tried it with 2 tracks using Process audio , Transpose , Radius Mix Advanced ... Both went up a whole step .... michael japan What's the quality like when you translate all the audio a whole step up or down?
My guitar track sounded fine , the summed mix transposed OK but I sure did not like what happened to my high end at all , my cymbals sounded very swoosh y w artifacts ... Kenny

That's way I'm doing individual tracks . Basically I have a 16 track master and the singer has decided he wants the song up a whole step. If I mix the whole backing track, then transpose it , the cymbals often do sound a bit odd. If I just transpose the bass and guitar tracks in the multi track ( the keyboards are midi - Vst tracks and can be manually transposed without pitch shifting) this avoids changing the pitch of the drums, which is where most artifacts seem to occur.

Sure I get your workflow , it makes perfect sense .Transposed drums after the fact do bite I just did the most recent SONAR update and I didn't know if something got broken . That's why I did it the way I did . Quick , down and dirty just to see if all was well ... all the best , Kenny

False alarm at this end. Just tried on several tracks, and transposition worked perfectly...maybe I was hasty and tried to transpose a Groove clip without realizing it.

I find it's important to try different algorithms for "Type." Usually Radius Mix works best, but not always and the results depend on the source material. Sometimes you can get away with massive amounts of stretching, sometimes not...my standard operating procedure is to try it, with ctrl+Z at the ready in case it doesn't meet expectations.

I tried bouncing each clip to clips before processing it, and now it works. Thanks Bitman.

I've never even thought to transpose audio. I've used it on a selection of midi tracks.
Sonar Platinum, EWHO/D, Spitfire, Miroslav, Pianoteq, ...., Kurzweil.

Cakewalk really should put in a message when you try and transpose a groove clip. Right now it does nothing, silently. I understand that message boxes are annoying and can really kill workflow. But if I say to do something and the software can't do it, it would be nice if it would tell me it can't do it and perhaps say why.

Transposing Midi is a lot of fun . One can learn a lot of new things they didn't know before Kenny
