AudioSnap not behaving as in the Sonar X1 explained tutorial

I've recently upgraded to X1 Producer Expanded, and bought Sonar X1 Explained so I could really get to grips with this thing and start making music.
I've copied everything Eli Krantzberg demonstrates;even going so far as to recording  cowbell and shaker tracks that mimic the ones in the tutorial.
Now,with the 'intro to audiosnap' section,I'm running into my first obstacle.
(The demonstration is for a simple quantize for the cowbell and shaker tracks.)
When I press the 'clip follows project button' on the audiosnap palette, I'm getting the message 'invalid measure and/or beat'.I've tried re-recording the shaker and cowbell tracks 5 or 6 times, but this is happening EVERY time I press the 'clip follows project' button.
The 'average tempo' in the audiosnap list in the inspector, isn't even close to the project tempo either.
The 'follow options' is 'beat',again,as in the video.
I've followed EVERYTHING in the video exactly. It's most frustrating.
What's going on?

I don't know about your exact problem but because of all the updates a whole pile of little things are different from the many vids and tutorials. I'm constantly having to poke around Sonar and do online research to figure out things described in the vids and even X1s own manual that have been moved or changed. Usually the answers are available or the function I'm looking for is relatively easy to find but yes... it is extremely frustrating and requires a bit of tenacity to get things moving along again. Good luck.

I really struggled with AudioSnap and often ran into error messages similar to the one you report.  The ONLY AudioSnap videos that I found that really helped were by forum member "FastBikerBoy".  I would suggest going to his YouTube channel at

    http://www.youtube.com/us...sults_main
Play anything with AudioSnap in the title.  Even better -watch all of his videos.  They are all excellent.

Yeah man. FBB knows his stuff and he seems to always be learning all the new nuances as things move along. Nice guy too.

    Thanks for the input guys.
It's amazing what modern day DAW's can do,but they're just SO damn involved, and it seems to take an age to learn them, when all that time could be put into actually making some toons.I get very impatient with it,and in some ways miss those days where I was knocking out songs on my Zoom 16 track  HD recorder.
I can get a little disillusioned when most of the members here seem like  seasoned pros when it comes to sound production.
There aint too much activity going on in the right hemisphere of my brain,so the logical, technical side to recording is quite overwhelming
I'll check out those videos don4777
    Cheers.

Well you gotta remember all these guys started somewhere too. I've been at it for over a month now and I still feel like I'm completely underwater... but I'm getting there. The hard work is totally worth it. Best of luck.
