Audiobox: signal TOO hot

I finally got the drivers to load; cable was too long and port was unstable. SO, that fixed I'm trying to get the box to work with Sonar HS6xl . It does recognize the box but the signal is WAY HOT. What can I do about that. I've got two condenser mics plugged in ... It plays music just fine .. nice sound.

    turn the input gain down.

what do you have the input knobs set to on the audiobox?  is the red clip light coming on?

Make sure your condenser mic's cable has XLR plugs on it. The manual is pretty poorly written, but I believe you need to use the XLR input for condenser mics and the 1/4 phone plug input is for line level.

    • Instrument Inputs (Channels 1 and 2).    The 1/4” TS connector on channels 1 and 2 are for
use with an instrument (guitar, bass, etc.). When an instrument is plugged into the
instrument input, the mic preamp is bypassed, and the AudioBox USB becomes an active
    instrument preamplifier.
NOTE: Active instruments are those that have an  internal preamp or a  line level output.
Active instruments should be plugged into a line input rather than into an instrument input.
Plugging a line level source into the instrument inputs on the front of the AudioBox USB
not only risks damage to these inputs but also results in a very loud and often distorted
    audio signal.
(In other words, don’t plug a line level source into the combo jacks of channel 1 or 2.)

Well... I started looking at cables/mics so I unplugged the mics and saw that I was still getting a hot signal .. hmm. After some thought I narrowed it down to the extension USB cable. I've got my cables running through the wall out to the computer ..this box just didn't like the extension!

So.. off to the store to get a longer USB cable. THEN... I hope it actually records well when I get that far.  Thanks for all your suggestions!! V
