Audiosnap: Am I just an idiot?... (SOLVED aka Yes I Am!) :O)
So, Seth claims that Audiosnap in X1 Expanded works across multiple audio tracks such as drum tracks. Why can I only ever edit one audio track at a time? Can anyone elighten me as to what setting I am missing? (And yes, my tracks are grouped!). I'd really appreciate some input on this. PS, I do know that Quantize will work across multiple tracks but I am talking about SINGLE hit edits. Best regards, Ludwig

If you select multiple tracks the Audiosnap palette title bar displays (Multi). You can apply changes lie quantize to selected tracks simultaneously. You can also select transient markers in multiple tracks and move them together (not had the need for this though). There may be more you can do, I've not gone any further

Hi Bigdogs, I know I can Quantize as multiple tracks, but have you tried to shift, let's say a single Snare hit, by hand? It will only move the hit on the track you are working on. It won't move all related points on the grouped tracks.

That's a great video and very informative. Although the fellers seem a little "buss happy" to ol moi. Plus (sorry if I'm griping here) I love it when the Colonel says...when working one beat at a time with audio snap..."is there a way to automate this? Sure...you could just hit Quantize...but it's probably not gonna work...so if you want it right you need to do each beat one at a time by hand." (I paraphrased a bit there). That's why I hate Audiosnap. In Studio One you DO just hit "Q" and it DOES work. I shore hope they've fixed that in X2. I shorely do.

I think you're right, it won't automatically move hits on other tracks, but you can select the transient markers on the various tracks and move them all at the same time Simon

I haven't worked with "real" multi-track drums in some time, but it used to be that you double-clicked a transient on one track, and then the corresponding transients on the other tracks would be manipulated together with it. Perhaps I misunderstand the issue though...

Perhaps I misunderstand the issue though... That sounds really familiar... I think there's some type of "tolerance" that determines which hits on other tracks should be moved along with the one selected.

Question - do the corresponding transients on other tracks move relatively to the one you've double clicked or do they all snap to the same point in time?

No, they move relativley, in other words they stay in phase with each other (hopefully!) :O).

Regarding phase-coherency, some luck is required. It depends on how cleanly the transients have been captured. I remember having to go back into the tracks after my Audiosnapping was complete and cut and nudge some stuff that had been shifted out of phase. This was prolly SONAR 7, though, so things might have improved.
